>Dear Christopher

>

>Why is this Mercury weak? It has vipreeta raja yoga status and is located in

>the nakshatra of birth yogi and planet of President Jupiter. It is in the

>lord of the 10th house from Moon in the 3rd house of courage and victory. I

>do not see this as a weak planet for Gore. Any comments. This Mercury falls

>on my lagna cusp, maybe thats why I like it so much..............

You raise some good points. But how important are each of them? Vipreeta

yoga is contested by many people(dussthana lords that are placed in other

dussthana houses) so I don't necessarily consider that a position of

strength. I've seen illustrations of it, but always there were other

supporting factors. If you have any irrefutable proof of Vipreeta, I'd be

glad to look it over.

I don't know much about yogi planets, so let's bracket those for now. As

for Mercury being in Jupiter's star, yeah, that's good, but doesn't

Jupiter's house placement count? It's in the 6th. Some might say (to

quote Liam) that a connection between the 6th(disputes and enemies) and a

kingly planet would be favourable for a politican. Could be, but I haven't

had enough experience to say.

Chandra lagna charts are fine and I use them too, but not at the expense of

the rashi. In Cancer rising rashi, Mercury rules the 3rd and 12th and is

placed in the 8th. In Aquarius, it's dispositor is Saturn placed in the

1st. That helps for sure. But what's really interesting about Gore's

Mercury is its heavy aspecting: it receives Ketu's and Mars's aspect and

the orbs are both quite tight, both around one degree. If we focus on the

natural qualities of these planets, this is a dual affliction that should

affect Mercury's significations negatively, particularly the living ones

such as siblings. However, if we look at rulerships, one can easily be

persuaded to see the glass is half full: Ketu is in Libra and dispositor

Venus is in own sign Taurus in the 11th of gains and Mars is in 1st while

it is YK and rules the all important 10th. By that perspective, Mercury is

receiving a lot of beneficial influence. The difficulty here as always, is

in blending the maleficence of the natural malefics with the beneficence of

the their functional roles.

It is also worth pointing out that Mercury is fairly uninspiring when one

examines its 16 varga placements. It is only exalted in one chart

(although significantly, it's in dashamsha) and in own sign in one, while

it is debilitated in two. It is also pretty weak in shad bala.

For me, it's really up in the air whether or not we should think of Mercury

here as an asset. I wonder what happened to Gore in his previous Mercury

bhuktie in 1981-2. Anyone know?

In the end, I side with Houck on who will be elected (Bush) only because he

is rarely wrong in predicting election outcomes and he's got way more

experience than I have.

I think of this as a very useful learning experience to see the relative

importance of natural vs. functional qualities. If Gore should win, we'll

have to give some credit to those aspects (and I won't even mention

Saturn's 150* quincunx from the 1st with one degree orb!) Of course, we

always have to remember that vimshottari dasha is never foolproof, so

Mercury's placement may end up being irrelevant.

[gjlist] Election: Gore's Mercury

Dear Christopher

I think for a Cancerian, Chandra lagna takes on more importance than usual

and in the case of Bush and Gore Saturn has turned retrograde in the 11th

house of friends and associates. The 11th house is also the house of

realization of goals. From his Moon, Bushs Saturn is in the 9th house of

luck and 12th house from Sun. For Gore it is in the 6th house from Moon and

3rd house from Sun. Slightly better for Gore I think. Bush is also in Saturn

dasha.

I was looking at the chart of Bush Senior who was born 12th June 1924 in

Milton, Ma. at 11.38.00. This is more like the horoscope of a President with

his Mercury and Venus the 10th and 11th lords in maha parivartana raja yoga

and also 9th and 10th from the Moon likewise. Rahu in the lagna is deposited

by Sun who is dig bala in the 10th house with 11th lord Mercury. Lagna falls

in the nakshatra of 10th lord Venus and Venus is in the 11th house in the

nakshatra of birth yogi and planet of President Jupiter.

Old man Bush has lagna lord Sun the king of the planets in the 10th house

with the 2nd and 11th lord of wealth Mercury aspected by the 5th lord and

planet of President and money Jupiter. Mercury is in exchange with Venus the

10th lord who is in the nakshatra of birth yogi Jupiter. He became President

under Mercury /Venus period. He has all the kendras strong with a powerful

Rahu in the lagna, Jupiter in the 4th, Mars the yoga karaka planet in the

7th house of the public, Sun and Mercury in the 10th house and Venus in the

11th. From the Moon lagna the planets are still powerful.

What interests me is his chart is it is very bad for children showing the

loss of the first born child. Is George Jnr the oldest child or is there

somebody else older? Some old Pundits consider Gemini to be the ruling sign

of the U.S.A and when Rahu transits the ruling sign of a country it is said

that a new system of Government will be installed. Time will

tell.............................

Thanks for taking up my points so systematically. ;-) I guess when one

I think you're falling into a trap of a "presidential chart". Not all

>>Why is this Mercury weak? It has vipreeta raja yoga status and is located

>>>

>>> The horoscopes of Bush and Gore have few common planetary

>>> Saturn major-period started on August 1986 and ends on August 2005.

>>Venus minor-period started in June 1993. Saturn, lord of 7th and 8th ,

>>is in Ascendant. Saturn¹s situation in Ascendant is not a desirable

>>feature. However, the aspect of lord of 8 on Jupiter, the lord of nine,

>>indicates fame and power. According to classical texts, the mutual

>>exchange of lord of 3rd (Mercury) and lord of Ascendant (Moon) indicates

>>the capacity of a person to accomplish "daring acts". Venus, as Lord of

>>4th and 11th is somewhat malefic. The location of 5th and 10th lord Mars in

>>>

>>> A look at the planetary geometrical relationships from Moon show

>>dots, a royal position is possible. Saturn Venus geometrical relationship,

>>coupled with good tenth and eleventh houses and a healthy 32 dots in Sarva

>>Ashtakavarga in Lagna has largely contributed to Bush¹s continuing

>>political successes. During the period of Moon minor-period (July 1997 to

>>vote. During Mars¹s minor-period, the Governor Os national visibility and
