Guest guest
Hi, I was told to recite the Gayatri mantra by an astologer without giving me a reason as to why. 1. For what reasons is the Gayatri mantra recited? 2. Can someone indicate where the Gayatri text and/or audio can be found on the Net? Thx! ______________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com

Here is a real audio clip of this mantra as prepared by "Veda- Parayanamdars trained under the Guru-Sishya tradition" by the Delhi Vedic Trust. It is an audio clip from Sama Veda. http://www.ahista.com/dvt/Sama.ra The Delhi Vedic Trust have the full Rig, Sama, Krishna Yajur Veda and Atharvana Veda available for those who want to purchase the audio casettes. http://www.ahista.com/dvt/vedchant.html As well, here is an excerpt from a booklet published by the Chinmaya Mission Trust. It is titled pushpaan~NjaliH "The more effective metnod is where no sound emanates from the mouth nor is there any movement of lips or the tongue...The body has to be steady in every case...When a mantra is given by a Guru, the Guru adds a divine potency to that mantra. It becomes more effective and thus helps the devotee in his elevation faster. Such a mantra cannot be divulged to a second person...For achieving mental cleanliness, the devotee should start with physical cleanliness...Regularity is a must for progress. A very important pre-requisite is an absolutely steady posture." ajit -- Ajit Krishnan ajit@(julian|engga).uwo.ca http://publish.uwo.ca/~akrishna
