Dear Sanjay, Rhoda and friends,

Sanjay absolutely right about having to know the anatomy and the astrology

for Medical Astrology. Fortunately, my understanding of anatomy is better

than my understanding of astrology. So, I'm hoping this may help clear

things up. I may have a fledgling understanding of astrology but my

university studies and profession happens to be Biology. In a sea of

BTechs, I'm happy to be able to add a different perspective and hope it is

useful. Granted, I have left my work 5 yrs ago to have a family, and I may

not current with the latest thinking, but this much I know. Diabetes is a

disease of sugar metabolism. Sugar is normally cleared from the blood by the

hormone, insulin . In normal individuals sugar is converted to glycogen and

stored in the Liver and large muscles for energy. (Hence, carbo-loading for

marathoners) Once the glycogen storehouses are filled the extra sugar is

stored as fat (as many of us may be familiar with this). Insulin is

produced by cells called Islets of Langerhans and is located on the

Pancreas. I don't know astrologically speaking if the Pancreas is ruled by

a different planet than the Liver or not. The Pancreas actsmore like a

gland, releasing various enzymes and hormones needed for digestion. There

are two main types of diabetes caused by two different problems. Diabetes

type I begins in childhood and is cause by a complete or near lack of

production of insulin and is treatable by daily injections of insulin. The

second type is called Diabete type II or adult-onset diabetes and the latest

thinking (as far as I know) is caused by a life long over-consumption of

sugars and starches (venus?) and essentially causes the metabolism to burn

out from an OVER-production of insulin. This type of diabetes can usually be

treated by dietary changes, limiting the consumption of sugars and starches.

So when looking at charts, there may be two different combinations to be

looking for. I hope this was useful to the discussion.

Best Wishes,

Karen Skoler

Dear Karen,

Thats excellent info. So, there are two types of diabetes and the

pancreas is also involved. Thus the basic point about the "energy being

stored in the liver" is correct as I was taught. This is confirmed by your

writing that Glucose is stored in the liver. Now, what I want to know is

what does the bile do? Does it have any function connected with digestion

like the insulin coming from the Pancreas. Secondly, if the pancreas are

near the Liver, then they can also form a part of the Hasta Nakshatra, but

will be a different pada than the liver. Hasta has four pada and we need to

think what are the other two organs, big or small forming a part of this or

whether the liver has different lobes like the heart. There is a lot of work

to be done in medical astrology. I think Dr Charak being a medical man did

contribute in this field.

With Best Wishes,

Sanjay Rath

Dear Sanjay,

I'm glad this is useful info for you.I f you think this is not of great

interest to most people on the list, please feel free to reply to me

privately. I'm delighted to be of service to you. To answer you questions,

bile is most definitely involved in digestion and is produced by the liver.

It contains several enzymes that help breakdown food especially aids in

digestion of fats.

Once the bile is producted, it is stored and concentrated by the gall

bladder. This organ is small compared to the liver and located right next

to the liver in the right upper abdomen, and the pancreas is next to that

and the stomach next to that. The liver, gall bladder, pancreas, stomach, and

spleen are all located in the upper abdomen. It would be more clear for you

could find a picture. The liver has 2 lobes. My question for you is why

does Light On Life say that Hasta rules hands and fingers? Does it rule

both?

Best Wishes,

would you mind elaborating on the 'source' of information re:Which Pada's

within Different Nakshatras denote the various Parts of ones Anatomy or even

better sharing this information on the List?

If anyone else on this List has the information please reply as well
