Guest guest
Hi Mu'Min, Nice to hear from you after a while! (I hope its not too hot these days over in Philadelphia). Since the subject of western progression methods has come up, let me add some thoughts I have had. Evidently, according to Sanjay Rath, these methods were taught by the sage Manu, in his treatise called the Manu Samhita, which is more or less a law book for all of mankind, and in which the principles of astrology were taught as well. I like both the Secondary and Tertiaries, because the Moon thus progressed, whose movement through the naksatras is the calculation base for many dasa systems, has a similar movement to that of Saturn, who is the "Wheel of Time" (and who is thus very important in the matter of event timing as well). If, for example, you progress the chart by one calendar day = one year, you find that the secondary progressed Moon stays in one sign for two and a half years, and one naksatra for one year. This is basically the identical movement of Saturn. Thus, the secondary progressed Moon follows the exact path of the "unprogressed" Saturn, and the two seen simultaneously can give some hidden clues regarding "fate" or destined events. K.N. Rao used to talk about significant and important events happening in a person's life during the dasa of the Moon and bhukti of Saturn, and vice versa, and especially when they are mutually aspecting natally. Tertiary progressions may be more useful for timing events more closely, as the Tertiary progressed Moon stays in a sign for 2 and 1/2 months, and one naksatra for one month. An interface between the Moon progressed in this way, and positive or negative naksatras, could show a good or bad one month period, for example. The Moon conjoining natal configurations in this way could also spell out particular events, the broad significance of which could be seen from the Vimsottari dasa that would be operating simultaneously. Primary progressions follow the Sun's natural degree sequence, going at a rate of one degree per day = one degree per year. There is a method in Varshaphal, or yearly charts, whereby "Sahams" (which are the Vedic counterpart to Arabic Parts), are progressed by one degree per day *to* an important planet or house cusp, and in this way events are timed. Anyway, the bottom line is, that all these progression methods work. What needs to come next is some more convincing research with actual charts. Thanks for the communicato -- more later, time permitting...... With regards, Robert ===================================== Robert A. Koch, Vedic Astrologer 760 NW Broken Arrow Rd.
