Guest guest
The other night, our friend Jerrerey Armstrong (Vedic Astrologer) was on "Exploring the Unknown" on Fox Family network. This show covered him doing charts in a test situation. He did very well. They gave him 77% accuracy for all statements made, and it was a strictly controlled situation. It was supposed to be a "skeptical" situation, so he did well. Anyway, they had some astronomer chap from Griffith Observatory throw in his hatred for astrology as part of the show. He basically said Astrology is BS- "it's just psychology at best, because the planets have NOTHING TO DO with our lives here on Earth". I wonder what he thinks about the fact that everyone tends to wake up each day when the Sun is conjunct the lagna, that more people suffer mental diseases at key points in the Moon's cycle each month, that the tides rise as do the waters in us by the Moon's cycle, etc. By the way folks, please note Ekadashi Tithis. Try watching and seeing if you don't have your most passionate, hard working, or headache causing days on Ekadashi Tithi, which happens twice a month (When the moon is a 120 deg trine ahead of the Sun). Just watch for it please. On this day the waters in you are highest, causing for me, the BEST WORK DAYS of the month, without fail. I tend to get more done. Please check it out. The Moon is causing all the "waters in you" to rise up just like the tides. (A side note: In India, since forever, this is the Lunar day reserved for worshipping Vishnu, and on this day Vaisnavas fast from grains, to curb somewhat the Rajas that this causes in us, so as to maintain the balance of Sattva, and be thus more able to serve Vishnu, since Rajas is anti that in essence.) They had a "reformed astrologer" on the show, some very young woman (blonde) who was telling that astrology is BS. She had "seen the light" and realized astrology was empty and baseless, just a way for crafty people to manipulate others minds. I can tell by looking at her that she had the brains of a bimbo-she looked like "Britains Spears" or such. There's no way she could be an astrologer. No wonder she saw only darkness. In any case, you can see that Western babble hasn't helped, by comparing itself so often to psychology, and by not having much accuracy due to having lost the zodiac, and not having revealed dashas, too many aspects, and no spiritual requirements or connections. Note: back when the Greeks mingled with Vedic folks, the two zodiacs were alinged. Ding. They were'nt wrong, THEN. But nowadays, hmmm, 76% wrong signs, what to speak of degree positions- all wrong. I don't think people would feel this way if real Jyotish-serious persons were ALL THERE EVER WAS as "astrologers". I often get calls from Western Astrologers who are playing with Vedic, or converting. Most can't say they were on the wrong track. Most cannot say that. But you lose nothing when going Vedic, and gain alot, but they cannot admit that. I have attachments too. But a lemon is a lemon. The other day I got a call from a real honest lady, because her chart is "hard", with Ketu conjunct lagna in Gemini, and Moon in Scorpio, and everything else in the 8th, type of chart... so anyway, she had little to lie about, and simply said "I can't believe I've spent or wasted all this time on Western astrology when Vedic is so much more aligned with the truth and cosmos". Oh well. As Bhaktivinode said: "Forget the past which sleeps, and never the future dream at all, but act in times that are with thee, and progress thee shall call". I realize however that Vedic is hard to understand for most people, because it is heavily Hindu, and there is NOT a lot of books on it yet which are CLEAR to the non-Hindu familiar Western reader. I realize that. It makes me nervous daily- to create more material etc. I was benefitted by being fully Hindu and having already studied lots of Hindu books, had been to India 4 times, etc., before I ever touched Jyotish. That helped a great deal. I realize most do not have this training. Jyotish is superior, and Astrology's current low status in the West is only attributable to it's incredibly low accuracy as practiced here with the complex houses, incorrect zodiac, too many aspects, too many planets, too many asteroids, too many invented (concocted by imperfect human) techniques, too much commercialization etc etc. Basically, off base and watered down. "What's your sign". Newspapers (Mercury doing it's non-commital damage as usual) have done the most damage with these stupid sun sign columns. No serious astrologer should write such crap. Rob Brezny and others who do these columns should stop. It's simply BAD for the Divine Sciences to belittle them in this way. This is not SERVICE or SEVA, it's OFFENSIVE. There should be NO astrologer willing to write such stuff, which seems to divide all humans into 12 predictively grouped entities. Simply RIDICULE-US, is what that is. Causes our science to be ridiculed. Then there's companies selling packages of crap like Bath Oils, Soaps, etc., based on your 'Sun Sign', which is too simple to begin with, and then to top that they tell you your wrong sign 76% of the time (the amount the Tropical Zodiac is "off" from the real zodiac at this time). "Anything for a buck from the untrained masses" is the Vaisya motto, and Vaisyas are BARRED by Veda from being Jyotishis.(Vaisya means the "mercantile class" of humans- read: anyone who thinks about profit before ethics, is a Vaisya). Most people in business are Vaisyas. Brahmins and Kshatriyas are much more rare. (Brahmins are true spiritualists and Kshatriyas are true warriors for truth). ACS and other "supposedly serious" astrological companies sell this stuff, (sun sign incense, bath oils, etc), and thus deepen the image that this is, in fact, substantial, when in fact, it's totally ridicule-us. The astronomer pointed out that "Astrology is not aligned with space as it really is". In this case he was right (for once). Western astrology, probably what he's thinking of, of course, since that's what you find here in America primarily, is "off" from space by 23 degrees, and he knows that, since the sidereal longitudes (Vedic uses these) are where you find the planets, thus aim your telescopes, not the tropical positions. Simply let allegiance to the Tropical Zodiac die out, in you, and in the world!, I say. End the tyranny of baseless attachments to the past mistakes. At least be a Western Siderealist. That is totally understandable. At LEAST be that. End the lie of the Tropical Zodiac. It is an oximoron - "Tropical Zodiac". Simply put, there is no such thing. Guest guest
As a recent convert to Vedic Astrology, I have found it to be farmore accurate and powerful - also easier to understand - thanTropical. I do not begin to have enough knowlege or understanding ofeither to argue the merits of one over the other. But I do takeexception with your attack on tropical astrology - although I realizeyou were more moderate in you later message.I understand anyone desiring to replace what they considerincorrect with what is right. But is this not the Moslems andChristians converting each other? You can not destroy other people'sbelief systems and expect to replace it with your own. There is nogreater loss than the loss of one's faith and beliefs. Would notmore be served by looking for the truths that are in all astroloy?Lastly, for millions of people a bath oil is far more within theirreach than a gem to wear. And regardless of why it is sold, if thisprovides comfort to someone in difficult times is it not of value?Margaret gjlist , Das <das@g...> wrote:> > The other night, our friend Jerrerey Armstrong (Vedic Astrologer)was on> "Exploring the Unknown" on Fox Family network. Guest guest
Hello! I think Das's analysis was right on. We're all gonna get what we got coming to us and that astronamoron got what he deserved. A good lashing. If your not a real authority it's better to sit down & just keep your mouth shut and hear from someone that is. Better a sincere sweeper in the street than a charlatan meditator. Peace Out manvantara - <mltrwt <gjlist > Sunday, June 25, 2000 7:12 PM [gjlist] Re: Idiot Astronomoron Speaks > As a recent convert to Vedic Astrology, I have found it to be farmore accurate and powerful - also easier to understand - thanTropical.
