Guest guest
I've read several times here now that mercury is maraka for sagittarius lagna, and Mercury Dasa is coming up for me in about a year and a half. Once an astrologer told me that this would be the best time in in my life, since Mercury is exalted in Virgo in my tenth house, conjunct Sun ( not combust) in the tenth house. The reading I get for this states that mercury will give favorable results during her periods, but if it's maraka for me, does that erase the positive results? And make it into the most awful years of my life? Many thanks as always, Vox

Add to this the fact that exalted Mercury is well-placed in a kendra with Sun in a Budha-Aditya Yoga (good for wealth and learning), promises very well for this period, especially as Mercury is not combust. The Sun gets directional strength in the 10th, and so adds to the strength of the yoga. I would expect this dasha to be a very good time for career and status both for you (10th lord in the 10th) and for your partner (7th lord in the 10th). In addition, Sun is 9th lord, and so there is a powerful Raja Yoga in the 10th, combining 9th and 10th lord (as well as 7th and 9th lords). This promises well for rise in status in career. Of course, one must always check the strength and position of the dasha lord Mercury in the Navamsha and other Varga charts (especially D-10 for career) - good placements here will improve the general results. Also, check to see the status of the Raja Yoga planets in Navamsha - good placements here and in other Vargas will indicate how strongly the 'promise' will manifest. As for the maraka status of Mercury, yes this is true, but rather than 'erase' the positive results, I believe it is more likely to manifest, if at all, as potential health problems. I have Mars in 2nd house in Scorpio, and my Mars mahadasha was a good period for me even though Mars is a 'double maraka' for Libra ascendants, being lord of the 2nd and 7th. I hope this helps.
