Guest guest Report post Posted June 3, 2000 Dear Nicholas, You are very amusing. I am in my Mars Dasha, and I am a Virgo Lagna. No, I am not having the most fun time in my life. (understatement). I am still puzzled about the significance of my third house. It has a lot of planets in Scorpio, and Mars is its significator, Mars is the strongest (shad bala) planet in my chart, on top of that it is in the 12th house in Leo a friend, so it feels mighty strong and mighty trapped and thwarted. Not a good thing for a warrior. My younger brother is 8 years younger than I. He is an attorney. He has always been favored by my mother and is lucky with the women in his life, they seem to treat him very well and are beneficial to him. But he loves me and my sister very much and he doesn't seem to be causing any trouble or loss to me. Most of my planets are in infancy and old age, like 0 degrees or 27 or 29 degrees. The Junior Jyotish is for IBM clones and I have an iMac, so I don't think I can use it. But with your explanation, I think I get it. Do you know if Donna has anything in her notebook to do the calculations? I just feel as if there is something very important to the fact that I have so much Mars when I am a Virgo Lagna. Take care, Chris H.
Guest guest Report post Posted June 4, 2000 Dear Chris Because the MT sign of Mars is Arires the main impact from Mars comes from the 8th house rather than the 3rd . The 8th house although much dreaded in Vedic astrology does have an up side ( and I'm not just talking about that rich Uncle who you barely knew who leaves you a fortune) . The 8th house is a house of moksha and a house of transformation of death yes but then of rejuvenation . So it can help one cut away what has become superfluos and redundent . The 8th house represents secretive, mysterious esoteric knowledge .In the diametric opposite 2nd house the soul is immersed in the materiality of wealth, family and food . Death which is inevitable for all causes us to search within for meaning at the expense of superficiality . Mars' placement in the 12th is helpful in this regard because this is a like minded house whose highest attribute is the search for moksha(liberation) the liberation of the soul from it's enatnglement in matter . So you're intitive feeling that there is some importance in the predominance of Mars could be seen in this light . The 3rd house is very much a house of individualization ruling such things as ones prowess ,fine arts ,writing ,courage iniatives ,motivation, impulse and determination . A strongly influential 3rd house can give one a lot of belief in one's own convictions but on the down side a tardiness to grasp and assimilate the viewpoints of others . In this respect it could be noted that it is placed opposite the 9th house the house of Guru .In India the Guru principle was that the student sat and took lessons from a guru without challenging . The stiudent was thus educated but he was dependent upon the Guru .The 3rd house is the opposite of that where ones own courage, initiative, motivation and effort come into play . Hope this helps Best wishes Nicholas Dear Nicholas, You are very amusing. I am in my Mars Dasha, and I am a Virgo Lagna. No, I am not having the most fun time in my life. (understatement).
