I have the chart of a friend of mine who is a medium. She doesn't go in trance but pretends to be in contact with entities present on a spiritual level. She had not much schooling but can answer many questions about things she completely ignores. The only thing that happens when she "transmit" a message is that her language become very archaïc. Her birthdata 13th of november 1953 at Uden (Holland) at 15.15 h. Zone 1 CET 5E36 51N40 RASI -------- Asc. : 10°59 Pisces Sun 27°42 Libra Moon 18°33 Capricorn Jupiter R 1°50 Gemini Venus 9°04 Libra Saturn 9°24 Libra Mars 14°13 Virgo Rahu 3°01 Capricorn Mercury R 0°20 Scorpio Navamsa ------------- Mars Taurus Sun,Moon Gemini Mercury,Ketu Gemini Asc, Jupiter Libra Venus,Saturn Sagittarius I personaly don't know where to look. Using Lahiri, Ayanamsa for the chart given above, I get 11:00 Pisces as the lagna. In my researches with clairvoyants, psychics, and mediums, the following chart instances are often consistent: (1) Watery sign rising (any one of them); (2) the Moon is with either lunar node, most often with Rahu; (3) Mercury is often with Ketu, OR Mercury, the Moon, and Ketu exchange each others' signs or naksatras; (4) the presence of one or more Upagrahas very near the ascendant, is almost always found; and (5) a very pronounced or active 8th house. (Note that extra-saturnine planets are not used in this analysis, because there is enough consistency just using the above factors alone). Out of the above 5 categories, 4 apply in the chart given verbatim. Lets look closer: (1) The watery, Jupiterian sign of Pisces is rising; (2) the Moon joins Rahu in her own naksatra Sravana, while Ketu occupies the Moon's sign, Cancer; (3) Mercury is neither with Ketu, nor occupying Ketu's or the Moon's naksatras, although Mercury occupies the Moon's Navamsa, and thus joins with natal Ketu in Cancer (try the technique of placing Navamsa planets over the birth chart. This is called "Navamsa Tulya Rasi", and is a very important interpretive principle). The Moon, in turn, is in Mercury's Navamsa, whereas Mercury is in the Moon's Navamsa. Note that the Navamsa exchange of signs between the Moon and Mercury connect the 9th and 10th houses in her Navamsa chart also. This is another twist on principle 3 above; (4) Note the EXACT conjunction of Upagraha Dhuma on the ascendant of this chart. Lagna is at 11:00 degrees, whereas Dhuma is at 11:02 degrees. This is highly significant, as the Upagrahas -- all of them -- represent an extra-dimensional expression of the 9 grahas; and (5) The lord of the rising naksatra (a very important planet, according to Satya-Jatakam), is Saturn (rising star is Uttarabhadra), and it joins 8th lord Venus TO THE EXACT DEGREE, in the 8th house. The 8th house itself carries three planets, all forming a Vipareet Raja-yoga, which applies in full. Thus the 8th is very powerful, and especially so is the ascendant for 8th house matters, as its naksatra lord is involved. So thanks for sharing the chart of your friend. You can try using the above factors in assessing the strengths of one's clairvoyant or mediumistic abilities, and you will find many consistencies. It may be, that less than Sattvic entities channel through under the strong influence of Upagrahas, such as was the case with your friend. In order to hone closer, strengths of 9th and 5th house, as well as Atmakaraka and Karakamsa need to be looked at also. I noted that the exchange of 9 and 10 lords in her Navamsa was significant to attract high spirits, yet Dhuma to the degree conjunction of her lagna is questionable. I had a very close friend when I was living in Seattle who was a trance channeler. She had similar combinations in her chart to your friend, except with a very strong Jupiter predominating the Moon and Rahu conjunction. Entities coming through her were very wise and benevolent, this I personally experienced. Anyway, yes, please do send whatever other data you have on such types of gifted persons. It could turn into an interesting research, as to not only who has this ability, but what kinds of entities channel through.
