Guest guest
Dear Das - << If one of you does this fully, investigates it, perhaps you could report back to the group as to what one can and cannot do there as a member of the list. >> As I am the moderator of the SATVA list which also operates from EGROUPS now, and am also a member of GJLIST, I can see them from both sides of the fence. As a moderator, the screen sets up differently for me, as for you. But as a member only, I can still click on MODIFY or UNSUBSCRIBE, right under the MEMBERSHIP heading, on the main page and change my e-mail listings easily to either DIGEST, E-MAILS, No E-MAIL ( read at the web site instead) and also decide whether or not to make my profile public information or not. . . EVERYONE CAN DO THIS! NO ONE should have to go to the moderator in order to UNSUBSCRIBE or have him or her change your choice of e-mail selection or profile description. These are all editable by the user himself . . . So there you go Das. . . You're free to do the thing you do best!! Donna Quinn
Guest guest
Hello This is the url to the GJLIST homepage at eGroups, who is hosting the list: http://gjlist If you go to this link, I'm not sure, but possibly you may be able to change your preferences as a member to "Daily Digest". There is that form available, yes. I see that I can set that for members if I go into their moderator page- I can add, remove, change settings. I just don't want to be constantly disturbed by this type of duty. It makes me too scattered. I cannot constantly be interrupted by requests in email form and survive it, and get my work done, and I avoid the phone for the same reason. Since I'm the moderator, the eGroups page recognizes me differently. I'm not sure what you folks will see if you go to this page. I'm hoping that you will be able to change your own subscription options. Perhaps to do so you will have to "Sign In" with eGroups, which gives you a password onto their site. Maybe then they can link you to your memberships better, even if it is only one. You have to cookies turned on to access their site fully. This is normal for highly interactive sites- it's a computing necessity. So if you are truly interested in customizing your membership with GJLIST and any other eGroups lists should you be on any, then probably it's a good idea to go there and cooperate with the website to see what it will allow you to do. If one of you does this fully, investigates it, perhaps you could report back to the group as to what one can and cannot do there as a member of the list. Das Goravani, Pres. Guest guest
Namaste, As I have and am a moderator/list owner other lists on Egroups, I will try to clearly answer the questions you all have. Das Goravani, you need not do anything as I just investigated the subscription options available to this list and they are not unique. Therefore, a member goes to the Egroup page: http:///mygroups There you are given a list of any/all groups you belong to that use this server. On the far right of the page, on the same line as a list name are the following options in pull down menu form: Individual Emails Daily Digest No mail, web only Un You make your choice and the listserve automatically changes your option. "No mail, web only" is an option for members to not receive email sent to them, but they choose to read them from the Egroup server. This is an excellent option for those who share a computer; have too much email; or only read occasionally. The negative is if Egroup has a "glitch" and the home page is unavailable or running slow as it often is. I hope this answers all questions, if not, please let me know and I will try to be clearer.
