Guest guest
SURRENDER YOUR PRIDE Baba said, “He should get rid of his ego, place (or surrender) it at My feet. He who acts like this in life, him I help the most” in Sri Sai Satcharitra, Ch. II. Life fulfils itself in service. He amongst men is the greatest who greatly serves. The Duke of Norfolk, one of the greatest men in England, dwelt in a big castle. But he was a simple, humble, gentle soul. One day, he was at the railway station, when a little Irish girl got off a train with a heavy bag. She had come to work as a maid servant at the castle. The castle was situated at about a mile’s distance from the station. The little Irish girl had but a shilling with herself. She offered it to a porter and asked him to carry the heavy bag to the Castle. The porter contemptuously refused. The Duke, who was simply dressed, stepped forward and offered to carry the bag to the Castle. When they arrived at the Castle, the Duke graciously accepted the shilling which the girl gave him. Not by a single sign did he reveal to the girl who he was. It was only the next day, when she met her employer, which the girl discovered that the man whom she took for a porter was none other than the Duke of Norfolk himself!
