Om Namah Shivaya Linda,

This is fantastic news about your home!  Jai Ma :)  Regarding the Your Innocent Desire project to bring homeless to meet Amma, the funds were to be sent to my PO box, so I could keep track of how much there was for this purpose.  But, checks could be made out to the MA Center, for the benefit of tax write-offs.

When I e-mailed Swami Dayamrita about helping the homeless devotee, the gist of response was that since there are so many devotees in this situation, this one couldn't be singled out by the MA Center for help.  That 's part of what spawned a realization of the need for a fund through which Amma's devotees could help needy persons in the U.S.

I say part of what initiated the realization, since after devotees began discussing a potential fund, it was discovered that our homeless sibling had written to one of Amma's swamis about it during the previos month.  Since there are no coincidences, that sure seems to hint at the Divine hand's intervention.  I'll send a couple of e-mails to you about the possible emergency relief fund.

Amma will be asked this June, if such a fund can be administered under the umbrella of the MA Center.

Congrtulations again on your new home, & thank you for your heart to help others.

Love,

Sweta

To Sweta and all ~ I read your post, Sweta, in a subsequent digest after it

had been posted. Someone quoted the entire post as part of their response. I

started to write a response, and then had to quit. So I will ask about it now.

Is there some way a (national) AMMA Helps the Needy in the US Fund, through

the  M.A. Center, with Dayamrita's help, so that, not only could donations be

sent  through the M.A. Center but that this kind of program could be set up,

if Amma  blesses it, for future times when there is someone in dire need.

Request for  assistance on behalf of a family or individual could be sent via Sw.

Dyamrita?  And then donations could be sent. Or, if devotees knew there was

such a fund to  help the needy in America (especially where there is no satsang

or Amma's  Kitchen or other basic needs help), many devotees across American

might  contribute to such a fund and create a kind of "endowment," where money

is in  the pot, so to speak, already available.

I know that initially donations for Temba's project were initially sent

through you, but then I had the impression that, at some point, this changed.  Did

it, and was it to go through the M.A. Center? However it was set up, it

seems to be working very well for Temba's project, which has taken on a life of

its own, thank to Temba's ever abundant love and energy and to Amma's blessing

and taking it further and further.

This will come up again, and it would be so wonderful to have a program

here. Many of us contribute to Mother's charitable programs in India, and surely

the need is great here. But America, the land of so-called abundance, has many

people falling through the cracks. In any case, if this idea doesn't seem

feasible, please write me off-digest where to send a donation, and I'll get

something in the mail tomorrow. Everyone's prayers and Mother came through for

me, at least it looks that way, and I will hopefully soon be out of the

trailer  and in a home again. When I asked my stepfather for some of the money back,

for  those of you who are familiar with my story, he ponied up $30,000. Most

of it  will go to the downpayment, to make our monthly mortgage payment as

small as  possible (we've gotten used to rv rent, which is very low ... $200 -

$275 a  month, with everything included). But surely I can share some of what

has come  back to me with this family. Jai Ma ~ Linda

I am very happy to hear about this initiative! I inquired about this

devotee last summer to the Swamis and Ma center people, and they

both confirmed that there was no program currently available for

devotees in these situations. It seems that Amma may have heard

these prayers..
