Hello,

I've been chanting the Maha Panchakshari(Om Namah Shivaya) for

about a month now, and I have certain breathing problems because of

it. Is it because of the excess chanting of the mantra with an impure

mind? I feel that energy(Shakti) is realeased while chanting the

mantra and if the mind is not pure enough to handle this Shakti, the

energy can back-fire. I'd like to know what you're views are on this.

I'd also appreciate if someone gave me some advice on correct mantra

chanting and how to overcome these breathing problems. I can't stop

chanting. Even if chanting is a tool... it is a special time which I

deditate to the divine, and I cannot let go of it for anything, let

alone a breathing problem. I may sound rigid but it can't be helped.

Hope to hear your comments on this..

Thank you.

Love, light and bliss to you all.

hello friend ,

This mantra is so powerfull that , it will take disease out of human body , it will never implant disease in us .

Regarding , breating problem ... it is because of ANXIETY ... which might have resulted out of proud in us ....try reciting this mantra with absolute peace ...

chant one mantra wait for 10 secs then repeat ....

Never expect that u will get something out of it ......

Mantra should come from within us ....

It must not comsume energy ...

we must reach a stage where our soul recite the mantra ....

that is the state where it will never comsume energy , rather ....

it gives us emmense energy, so, that will last long ....

Jai Bhole Nath .

Om Namah Shivaya

Dear Friend, Do you chant mentally or audibly ? If you are having

breathing problem while chanting audibly, it simply means you need

to develop stamina - do some daily physical exercise. If you are

having breathing problem due to mental chanting then I cannot say

much. It is also not clear how serious is your breathing problem -

it could be some allergy also. From whatever little I have read

(lectures etc by various Swamijis), japa should be done at the same

time of day, in the same seat, using the same mala and ofcourse the

same mantra. Ofcourse, you can chant whenever you find time or

inclination but if you are doing japa as a special exercise at a

fixed time of day, the above rules should be followed.

Panchaakshari mantram if chanted with pure body and mind (and with upadesam from an worthy Guru)it is good-if not possible,it can be chanted any time any where (thinking Lord Krishna as Guru-"Krishnam vande Jagadgurum) it is also equally good-there is no need to have any inhibitions-"Apavitra Pavitrova-Sarava avasthaam"--InTamil "Ninrum,Nadandhum,Irundhum,Kidandhum Ninaippathu Unnai"---Acharya sri.Sanakara in Soundarya Lahari says a similar view in the stanza starting-"Japo Jalpa silpam---Somayaji

Dear Sir or Madam:

My first recommendation would be to change your name to either reflect your real name or perhaps a nickname that your would prefer to be called by. If you really love Shive your would respect His Mantra for it is by this Mantra that He is called by. There is basically no harm in chanting OM Namah Shivaya but in my opinion calling yourself this Maha Mantra is great mistake.

Lord Shiva imparts positive force/energy. Please do not give any room to any

thought and continue in a way you feel comfortable. Do not impose conditions

that u shold have pure mind, no bad thoughts etc. Leave all of them to Lord..

You are sure to get positive results soon.
