Darshan update- 2nd may 2006

Brindavan Ashram. Bangalore

2nd May 2006: The Brindavan ashram is gearing up for the upcoming event “Easwaramma Day” on the 6th of May 2006, groups of devotees from many Indian states are arriving here, the accommodation office is always busy and it I quite difficult to get a room inside the ashram especially these coming days. The Ramesh Hall is packed with devotees from around the globe, they start lining up already between 5-6 a.m. accordingly as per token line No. the waiting lines enter the Ramesh hall, this morning also the routine was followed. There is quite tight security in here, that is, devotees are body checked 2-3 times before entering Sai Ramesh. Even the seat cushions are bent to see if one has hidden any article etc. No doubt, all these precautions are there to enhance the security of visiting devotees and the over all or general security of Brindavan ashram.

After the token lines are settled inside the hall, devotees without the tokens are allowed to come inside and when the hall is packed the rest of the devotees sit in the outside area i.e. under the open sky.

It was quite a long wait for devotees who have been sitting in the lines since 5 a.m. however, after 3 hours and 40 minutes finally Swami entered, all the necks crane to get a glimpse of living God walking among us, Swami looked fresh and in good physical shape. After half hours bhajan session Aarthi was offered to Swami subsequently Swami retired back to TRAYEE.

In the evening the expectations were high since it was going to be a divine discourse day, it was announced yesterday that today 2nd May Swami will deliver a discourse. Swami kept His promise! Bhagavan arrived at 4 p.m. and gave a discourse which lasted for appx. 40 minutes, Swami touched many subjects e.g. Swami stated that everybody is god, the four values SATHYA [Truth], DHARMA [Righteousness], SHANTHI [Peace] and PREMA [Love] and the important role these values play in shaping our life towards the spiritual path. Swami emphasized on a value based life. Swami also stressed that human beings should not live a mere worldly life based on the body and fulfilling all desires but human life should be based on Atmic principals since fundamentally one is Atma and therefore one is god. Swami concluded His divine discourse with the bhajan Prema muditha mana se kaho Rama Rama Ram.... after the discourse, Swami was offered the customary Aarthi Swami went back to His residence after

the Aarthi. Also, prasadam was distributed among the devotees, which more or less always brings a bit of “mini disorder” in the hall since all the devotees want the prasadam but the system of distributing the prasadam never works with the overly eager or impatient devotees.

Also, today Swami didn’t come among the devotees but remained on the dais.

Swami’s physical frame is slowly and steadily recovering, Swami is recuperating by means of physiotherapy. As an avatar Himself Swami can completely heal Himself and has done so in the past. However, As Swami’s say My life is my message! One has to understand and identify with that message. It is only to make Dr’s and devotees around Swami, happy, that Swami sometimes takes these treatments or measures to restore His health. In reality Swami is above these physical ailments. Even in His previous body as Shirdi Sai Baba, Bhagawan’s physical frame underwent many physical ailments, in fact for many years Shirdi Baba’s [body] was unable to walk without the support of devotees. Swami is playing His leela also in His present form and we devotees can only pray to Swami to heal His body. Ultimately, it is His Will, His command and His Wish.

April 14th, 2006 - Vishu - -Baisakhi- Good Friday -Tamil New Year

April 14th 2006 had four festivals coinciding - Vishu, the new year of Keralites, the Tamil New Year, Good Friday of the Christians and Baisakhi for the North Indians. Sai Sruthi, Swami's residence at Kodaikanal, was packed with devotees from Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Festoons and flower decorations added to the gaiety in the atmosphere. A raised platform had been placed in the portico of Sai Sruthi to serve as the stage for the morning program. Bhagawan came out via the main entrance of Sai Sruthi at 9 am and began the proceedings. Prof. Mukundan, the State President of the Kerala Sai Organization, was the first speaker. He narrated a few experiences of devotees and concluded his short speech with the prayer to bless all of us to be always connected to Sai's Sankalpa. The next speaker was Mr. Ajit Popat, a businessman devotee from the UK. He exhorted all of us to have 100% involvement and 0% attachment. After Mr. Popat's talk, Swami indicated that He would be giving us His

Divine Message.

Bhagawan began His Discourse at 9.20 am with a poem describing the beauty of Nature at the beginning of the New Year.

"The sun is peaceful. A cool breeze blows. The days have become shorter...."

Embodiments of Love, we celebrate this day as the "New Year". But it is not new. God's word is that you are all the part of God "Mamaivamso jeevaloke jeevabhutassanatanah" . Because of your human form, you are referred to as humans. Though bodies are many, Atma in all is One. Thousands of bulbs glow with different colours and their powers may be different, by the current is the same in all. Talking, Walking, Thinking in all of you is the same Current. But today people see only material, not spiritual side of things. God is everywhere from the spiritual viewpoint. From Earth to Sky, everything is God. This tumbler is God. This flower is God. This mic is God, This flower is God. " Sarvatah Pani Padam". But due to individual attitudes, you find differences. Actually the elements are only the manifestation of God - there are only five elements, no sixth element. Sound, Touch, Form, Taste and Smell (Sabda, Sparsha Roopa Rasa Gandha).

Good and bad are not given by God - these are only consequences of your own actions. God never gives difficulties. God never gives joy either. Our own anger, desire and jealousy causes the delusion of happiness and sorrow. Desires - where do they come from? You want that and this. These have not come from outside - only from within you.

Man is made of the five elements. You think God has a form, but He is formless. God is Positive. Humans are negatives. Negatives come and go. Positive is eternal. All things are passing clouds - they come and go. Marriage - a boy marries a girl. The relationship is only after marriage. Birth and death are not related to this. Human life comes and goes. Only faith in the Atma is eternal. You come and go, I am Eternal. Divinity never changes. Aspire for the changeless, not the changing. This body is here today and you see it today. I may see you today, tomorrow I may not. Bodies come and go. Nothing is permantent in this world. Only one is permanent - " Sarvatah Panipadam" - that One is everywhere.

In this short life of ours, we have so many delusions. So, we need not exult over the "New Year". The present is what is important. Past and future are unknowns. Past is past. It will not come back. Don't trouble yourself over these things which pass off. Bodies also change over time - from childhood to old age. Just like a fruit changes from rawness to ripeness and finally decays, everything in this world is changing. Only the One is permanent.

Why do you pray? To whom are you praying? You pray to Yourself! Just because you have bodies you believe yourself different from God. But actually you are all Divine! There is no difference between devotee and God! Even this dust is God! Our delusions come and go. Sometimes Man is at peace, sometimes excited. These are due to our food and activities. God doesn't give us these.

The five elements do not die with the death of man. It is the power of the five elements which is responsible for the joy and sorrow of Man. Immediately after marriage, the husband is very concerned about the wife about to step on a thorn. But as time progresses, this changes to indifference and later to irritation!

This is not permanent love. All these related to this world, are ephemeral. When we suffer, we cry. When we gain something, we laugh. Because of the body, there may be some relationships, but this is only temporary. There is only One permanent, which we should aspire for. Nobody says you should Pray to God or Worship Him - these are only our imaginations. You pray, then if you are put to a loss, you turn the photo aside! This is not permanent Love. Love is God Live in Love.

You may think someone is wicked, but he also loves his wife and children! Love is something which is there in all. If you love a dog, it also reciprocates. So also a cat. Even wild animals will not hurt you if you didn't hurt them. As is your feeling, so is the result. All should take the body as an instrument. With it, just discharge responsibilities. Don't think that you are to enjoy with this body. However much you earn, it is all a waste. Understand that all this is impermanent. Only Love is True, permanent. Aspire only Love. Where there is Love, there is bliss. "Nityanandam, paramasukhadam...." When there is no love, you cannot enjoy anything. There was a person who was about to eat well, thinking there is nothing better for him at that time. But when he learnt that his son had died in a road accident, he threw the food aside and ran into the street. What happened to the attachmet to the food which he was about to eat with so much eagerness?

In this world, there is nothing to be desired. Less luggage, more comfort. Relationships and bondage are the luggage. Free yourself and enjoy. Give up desires and get detached - then you can be happy. There are so many millionaires in this world - did they take anything with them when they left? Body attachment is necessary only to the extent of discharging your duties. Duty is God, do your Duty. But don't bind yourselves with attachments. Excessive desires cause you grief. The material goods you acquire are all temporary. Alexander came to conquer India, and got a heart attack near the Sindhu river. He told his ministers to take his dead body to his country, with his hands upraised, and parade it. He explained, this is to show everyone that though Alexander conquered so many lands, he left this world empty handed!

So, why should we worry about these useless matters of this temporary world? Don't imagine unnecessary troubles. God is a witness to everyting that happens, even the most wicked things. God has no misery, no suffering. He never gives you problems. God has no desires. But you think God has desires. God is beyond the three Gunas or qualities. Your delusions are from these qualities.

People cry when someone dies. How long do they cry? Only for one or two days. Then they forget. All these are temporary. But we have to do our duties. See, we have a shawl over our shoulders. For how long? As long as it is cold. After that, you remove it. Similarly are these bodies - instruments. As long as there are relations in this world, we have to look after the body. But ultimately we have nothing to do with it.

Embodiments of love, you do japa, tapa, yagna, yaga - chanting, penance, sacrifices. But for how long? These are a waste of money. They will not protect you. The only thing you have to nourish is Love. With Love, you can conquer everything. Anything else decays and perishes. Don't pray for God - pray for yourself. Get Self Confidence. From that, you get self satisfaction, finally leading to self realization. To know yourself is self realization. 'Who are you' is the wrong question. Instead, ask 'Who am I?' Am I the body? The mind? The buddhi? The Chitta? The intellect? No. This is my body, so I am separate from the body. Body is like a water bubble. Mind is a mad monkey. Don't follow these. Just do your duties with them.

First control your mind. Don't allow it to become monkey mind. Make it "Mankind". Kindness is the true Human quality. Today you are giving up the True and accepting the Untrue. Everywhere there is only business and business. You should not keep on taking - you should also give. "Paropakarartham idam shareeram" - body is given to serve others. Don't get things done by others. As long as you are able, serve others, with the feeling that you are serving God. When you do all actions to be pleasing to God, then your actions become fulfilled. Nothing else is permanent - only Love is the eternal Divine. When you have Love, none will hate you. If you have desires, people may hate you. Never hate anyone.

Embodiments of love, you have come here with great Love. That Love should be with you all the time - with you, in you, around you. Never lose it. God is witness to everything. Don't think God is separate from you. Many people take flowers and fruits to temples.

"To the One who pervades the whole Cosmos, can you build a temple for Him?

For Him who has the entire world in His stomach, can you offer Him food?"

People offer various items as Naivedyam, and then offer it yourself!

"To the one who traverses all the Oceans, can you give Him a bath"?

Impossible. Just for your satisfaction you do these things. God has no desires. God may pretend to have desires. But He has no bondages. So, why will He be deluded? All His actions are for your sake. Whatever is experienced is for your sake. We should pray for the sake of everybody - "Loka samasta sukhino bhavantu" All should be happy. You should not pray, "He is my enemy, let him die." We should never hurt anyone. Love ever, Hurt never. If you have Love, you can conquer anything. Never go against Love. Love is God. Live in Love.

Consider this love as God. Even when faced with your enemy, salute him. Love him too. The salutation you give him, reaches God. Have that feeling and hate none. Whatever has to happen will happen. Don't worry over it. "Past is past, forget the past. Future is not sure, don't brood over the future". The present is important. Live in the present. Don't worry about past or future. So many have passed on in the past! Will they come back again? No. None knows what will happen in the future. So, why worry about it? We are happy now, in the present. if you have that attitude, you will not have any worries. What is the shape of worry? It is mentally created fear only. One should never worry. A true devotee is one who has no worries at all. Worry, hurry, curry leads to heart-attack! One should not be too fat, and one should not worry too much, nor think too much. We should be bold and courageous.

Embodiments of Love, you are all the Embodiments of Love, of God, of Atma. Just for the sake of identification you have a name, but actually you are Atma. Only Atma is permanent. Today is celebrated as the "New Year". Eat well and be happy. Have Holy Vision. In Kerala they take in the harvest and celebrate this Holy day with feasting. They work hard, morning to night, and get the grain home. Then, without worries, they feast. That is the Holy day of this festival. Being happy is the essence of this day. That is real Holiness. Being contented is true Bliss. When you are not contented, you are worried. That will lead to troubles.

Embodiments of Love, whenever you are in bliss, that is the Holy Day. Subsume the Divine principle in your Love. Have Love always. Then, every day will be "New Year". Is it a "New Year" if you make payasam and paramaannam, sweets, and eat? No. The day you are filled with delight is the "New Year". If any worries come, tell it to "Get Out!" You are not sorrow. You are not worry. You have no suffering. Then why should you worry? You are not related to any of these - neither joy nor suffering. I am Man - sorrow is not mine, suffering is not mine, pain is not mine. There is stomach pain. That is for the body - it is not yours. Similarly headache - it is the nature of the body. But having excess attachment to the body leads to diseases. Don't put your mind on your body. to the extent possible, don't depend on others for your daily needs. Put your food and habits within limits. Too much desire leads to all this suffering. Eating too much leads to indigestion. Don't strive for

food - try to get health instead. That is why Swami tells small children,

" Wake when the cock crows in the morning,

Brush your teeth, finish your ablutions,

Wear fresh clothes and partake your meal.

Chew your food properly, eat within limits.

Go to your school and learn your lessons

Get a good name as a good student."

Good name, good health, good habits, good behaviour, good conduct. If these are there, nothing else is required. then you don't have to run behind doctors for medicines. Doctors today if they give one medicine, another disease starts! Doctors give good medicines only if you give more money! Otherwise they just mix some red liquid and give you! What are you earning with this sort of life? Nothing! Just for a boil on the face, they say cancer, cancer. Hearing this, the patient really develops cancer due to their imagination. If there is some stomach pain, they say allergy! We shouldn't worry like this over anything.

If we behave as we are supposed to, we don't have to submit to anyone. Embodiments of love, don't worry over anything. Even those students who have studied a lot, when examinations approach, self-doubt is their biggest problem. they are not able to write even those things they have learnt. Why? Because of worry. We shouldn't worry for anything. We should lead a straight life. Then we needn't pray to anyone. Maintain your heart with Joy. Manifest that Bliss and make others also happy. You needn't say anything - just believe whatever you have faith in, with all your heart.

Love what you love. You need to love only One - that is God. If that is there, you can get anything in life. You cannot have a "two-horse race" in life - the World on one side and God on the other side. If you try to ride two horses at the same time, it will lead to danger. Concentrate on Only One. "Ekam Sath Viprah bahudah vadanti". Then we can achieve anything.

If you have problems, you run to the doctor! When you are happy, you go to God! When you are happy, you understand what is God. Those who want pleasure and happiness should desire God. Don't bother about sorrows. Keep only the Love for God, then all else will be added unto you.

All these are personal things. This is the 81st year of Swami. But I never worry. Happiness and sorrow are passing clouds - come and go. I love students a lot. There was a student on a metal folding chair, hanging festoons. When I suddenly came there, he was startled and fell on Me along with the chair. There was a fracture of the hip. Doctors said I should take rest for six months, but I did not rest even for even three minutes! Why did this Body come? "Paropakarah Punyaya" - only to do good to others. So, I take the support of a boy and walk. The body needs balance. I don't care even for that balance! We shouldn't worry over anything. Do your duty, everything will become fine. Develop Love, bangaru.

Bhagawan ended His Discourse with the bhajan "Prema Mudita". Then He instructed the students to sing Bhajans. after 15 minutes of Bhajans, Swami asked for the Arati. After Arati, Bhagawan got into the golf cart and went below to the extended darshan area where Narayana Seva had been arranged. Giving darshan to all assembled there, going up to the end in the golf-cart, Swami retired to His residence.

In the evening, Swami came out for darshan and bhajan at 4.10 pm. The Sundaram Bhajan group sang bhajans for ten minutes till Swami reached the Bhajan Hall on His chair, then they requested Swami and started their music program which went on till 5 o'clock. They incorporated some Western pieces on Flute also in their programme since today was Good Friday. Next it was the turn of the Kerala devotees led by music director Kavalam Sreekumar to present their musical offering for around 45 minutes. Bhagawan then asked the students to sing the Ramakatha in Hindi. The Ramakatha was followed by Meera Bhajans and other songs by the students till nearly seven o'clock when Swami took Arati and retired for the day.

Bhagawan left for Kodaikanal this morning. The first part of the hourney was to Madurai by a chartered Indian Airlines Airbus A320 aircraft, taking off at 9.45 am.
