Guest guest
Dear Alok, After seeing the Dakshinavarti Shankha and its X-Ray picture, I want you to be a bit extra careful before selling it. I think these are the pictures sent to you from a South Indian supplier judging from the language/spelling used "Vellampuri Shangu". I suggest you get it re X-Rayed it in your presence, using a heavy industrial X-Ray (also called metal X-Ray). Ask the X-Ray unit to use about 120 kv power and 5 minits exposure to ensure a more properly exposed X-Ray of the inside. Normally I would not raise doubts about someone else's product. But I am doing it in this case because you are still young at 28 and I don't want a fellow Vedic Astrologer to be taken for a ride and get a bad name. About a year ago I was fooled by almost a similar looking fake Dakshinavarti. I bought it for Rs.35000/- and sold it for Rs.45000/- to a fellow in Thailand. Fortunately, thanks to the help of this forum and especially Richardji and Dev Uniyal, I was able to trace him and in the process of returning his money and take the fake one back. (When I return it to the Hardwar crook who sold it to me, I intend to recite some pucca Punjabi verses!) The reasons to be careful about this Shankha are as follows: A) It has several of the typical features of Lightning Whelk - a short and broad head, a big pronounced flaring contour on the opening side and a long tail. B) The inside structure of the X-Ray, especially near the head part, is more characteristic of the lightning whelk than Velampuri as you can see in the 5 X-Ray comparison picture posted here Terms of Service. Guest guest
Dear Tata Ji, Thank you very much for the information. I will look into the matter to get a Digital -Xray with an industrial level machine. I hopr we will soon find the reality. I also doubt on it as it resembles the fake whelk. He gave me an X-ray so i thought it might be real. The other thing which provoked me was the non smooth pattern of the lines inside. Thank you once again for reminding me of a possible fake. Guest guest
Dear Pt.Tata, Your are really a rare pundit in kaliyuga. returning 45000 rupees to someone as you sold a wrong one to him is a laudable quality. people talk abou sastras but you are following them. my salutes to you sir. N. Ayyer ---Moderator's note: I contacted the Thai man about Pt Tata's offer to settle, but the Thai man was still so angry about it that he said he would not contact Pt. Tata at all. I encouraged him to contact Pt. Tata, but I don't think he has done so. The matter remains unsettled. sacred-objects, "Siva Prasad Tata" <sptata> wrote: > > Dear Alok, > > After seeing the Dakshinavarti Shankha and its X-Ray picture, I want > you to > be a bit extra careful before selling it.
