Guest guest
dear shiv bhakts om namo bhagawate rudraya the thali or mangala sutram is a kind of golden emulet in which mangala gowri is invoked. one such emulet from the girl's side and another from the boy's side is given to the girl for wearing as a blessing from both sides. also these emulets are touched by all brahmins and married ladies present in the marriage function and bless the bride. a girl is supposed to wear this lifelong as a proof of her marriage. also when a girl walks on the street and people look at her and when this thali is displayed prominently they would understand by seeing the thali that she is married to someone already. as per vedic rituals, yoktram made up of kusha ghas is also tied to the bride's waist by the husband and this function is called patnivratopanayanam. then comes this mangalya dharanam where the mangala sutram is generally called thali. a thali is tied only once in a lifetime and is worn by the woman as long as her husband is alive. notwithstanding the above significance of thali, it is not a holy or sacred item. a thali is worn by a woman 24 hours even while having sex with her husband as there is no god in it and it is only a proof of her marriage with the man who tied it. on the other hand, rudraksha is a holy bead which is a gift of nature and is not produced by a man and carved or shaped or designed like a thali. one shall not compare rudraksha with any man made item. lord rudra dwells in all rudraksha. renounced people wear rudraksha not only for enlightenment and salvation but also for protection from visible and invisible evil forces and they wear these rudraksha 24 hours. for a person living in family, he or she is advised to wear the rudraksha round the clock to get the desired results as promised by lord shiva in shiva puran but also for protection. however, since it is a holy sacred item and lord shiva dwells in it, it is removed while having sex. in all family houses, the pooja room is different than bedroom and that shows the sanctity of holiness of a god and a divine holy item. since ek mukh rudraksha is the most holiest and goddess laxmi dwells at the place where it is worshipped, lord shiva has recommended it to be worshipped. hope the above clarifies the difference between a thali and a rudraksha. in praise of lord shiva and with best wishes pandit arjun , GOPI NAIR <gopi_nair37> wrote: > > Namaskaram to all... > > The THALI and Rudraksha can not be compared... > > Thali is from a metal... and there is the purity and impurities of the metal is there. > > Rudraksha is entirely different.
