Thats true, devotion and intention matters, but if

having idols help you in getting inspiration there is

no problem in having idols and other spiritual things.

Hello Chitraji,

A lot of people have given their opinion on this. With your permission

I would like to add my own. If a murti is going to be installed at

home with due rituals, then you better be prepared for everything that

needs to go with with it. You would have to perform prayers 3 times a

day as per vedic rituals, offer the food that you eat on a daily basis

and on occassions when you have gone out of home for some vacation,

you better make sure that someone else has been given this tasks.

If the idol at home is kept without any installation ceremony, there

is no such restriction. Keping a photo at home is just as effective as

having an idol. I do not see any real reason for an idol. In our

community(Gujarati community) as far I I know, we generally saty away

from idols becuase simply having an idol, you cannot be as casual

about puja anymore...things become a little bit more strict which a

lot of people are not prepared for. For this reason, I only have

photos.

Keep a nice photo instead, look around and buy a one that gives you

most inspiration.

Sincerely,

BJ

Hello,

Keeping an image, a murti, in one's house contributes to create an spiritual

environment. If you have a special place where they can be put, much better. If

you can have pooja in your own house much much better. If you can keep God in

your heart whenever and wherever you are, best.

Yours,
