it is said that during the Shradh days/pitra-paksh days, one should NOT

energise(do pran-pratishta,puja) of a newly bought rudraksh...how true is

this..and if in case one has to do the rudraksh energising during these above

mentioned days then what is the worst thing that can happen.

reason i am asking this is bcz i came to know from friend that we have Shradh

days/pitra-paksh starting from sun 18sep 6.30pm and this would continue for

15days..

Dear Trevor

First of all we really do have to stop at your first statement............ it

would be good for you to tell us where in the world you have found such a

statement in the Holy Books.........when it is said that......................it

is said

there needs to be some kind of proof in writing somewhere to refer

to..........it cannot simply be paraphrased from some unknown

source.......................otherwise the statement is to be treated as

incorrect..........need to know

what source you are quoting when you make the statement that it is said that

on certain days the Holy Rudraksha should not be Blessed by the

mankind............the ego behind this kind of statement is flawed.....how can

the mankind

determine when and where to Bless the Holy Rudraksha.......that are already

Blessed when the materialize on the Trees according to Shiva Purana

This statement is like the one the woman wrote to me from Singapore and said

it was not allowed to wear Rudraksha when walking under laundry hanging

between high buildings and what was she to do

I told here there were no high buildings hanging laundry between them when

the Shiva Purana was written so it was not a problem

We need to stop with the first statement in your message and explore it

further

first three words are............it is said

I have never heard of this and have never read of this so who in the world

would say something that does not go with the flow of the references found

transliterated in the Shiva Purana

First of all the Holy Rudraksha are already Blessed as the Tears of Lord

Shiva and the one who wears recieves the Blessings of Lord Shiva simply by

wearing

and as said in the Shiva Purana

The Blessings by the mankind in the Temple to further energisze the Holy

Rudraksha are an additional secondary Blessing and Energizeing in an attempt by

man to help activate the Holy Rudraksha in clients name and energy signature

according to birth chart

Blessings can be performed each and every day of the year for the Holy

Rudraksha as they are already Blessed and bestow Blessings as said by Shiva

Purana.....the Blessings in the Temple by mankind are secondary to the original

true

nature of the Tears of Lord Shiva.........They are Blessed as they grow on the

tree and they are Blessed as they fall to the ground or are picked when the

Rudraksha Fruit is ripened

now it is said in a different way

hope this helps

Wishing you and Family the Best

I would like to suggest you a possible way forward Vikrant.

As I am sure you are well aware, there are many regional variations to

the rituals and ceremonies in India and Indian culture. Generally you

do not start something new during the period of Shradhs as this is the

time to offer your regards to all the souls that were at one time in the

past in physical form and had a direct connection in passing the

gene-pool for you to be formed. This is a physical link that we Hindus

observe once a year. The rituals are widely observed and fundamentals

of the rituals are the same more or less all over India. This is the

time set-aside for pause in your day-to-day journey and pay your

respects to your ancestors.

Therefore if you take it from a point of view that you are going to wear

the holy beads for the first time & in your mind you see this as the

beginning of a new chapter in your life, then maybe you ought to observe

the tradition and pay your respects to your Pitra and start new phase of

your life in the Nav-ratri that will follow the period of celebrating

the lives of your previous generations.

However the Holy beads are (according to Puranas) a direct result of

tears falling from the eyes of Lord Siva. As such they are the

embodiment of Love, Compassion and blessings from Lord Siva. These are

not needed to be energized but yet again according to the tradition &

rituals, we get them energised in the appropriate temples. This is as

if 'we - the wearer of the holy bead' announce our intention to Lord

Siva and ask for his permissions to wear the holy beads. It is bourne

out of love and the feel of a link with the supreme being the same way

as we have links with our physical parents/ancestors.

Therefore my friend, it is entirely upto you. There is no restriction

placed anywhere in the ancient texts as to when you can and/or can not

wear the holy beads. In fact (as far as I know) it is only the

Rudraksha beads that have such privileged position in the texts as

almost everything else has a dos/don'ts attached.

I guess the best way forward for yourself would be to follow what is in

your own heart. From tradition or ritual point of view you have no

restrictions but it all ought to come from the heart of the wearer and

as such one ought to listen to one's inner self in such matters.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards

Anand
