Guest guest
Dear Dharmadevji and simonji Humble pranams I was away for quite a few months and now am happy to be back When doing some study on rudraksha came across some very interesting facts................. The rudraksha bead can be used to identify whether the food we consume is good gor our body or not....... Basically there are two types of food as per our scriptures.......negative pranic food.....which is bad for our prana and positive pranic food which is good for our prana.......PRANA means Life force.............. the fuel that keeps us going....... Many many years ago Shiva devotees (Sidhars) as they were known in the southern part of India used to get alms from devotees to eat or would roam around in the forest and find something to eat apart from indulging in very powerful meditation........... In order to find before eating wether the food is ok for the body.........they would hold a rudraksha mala.......very still and wait........... within a few minutes(60-100 secs) the mala would start rotating............. and if the rotation was clockwise then it is positive pranic food and if anti clockwise then it is not good for us........... if swinging like a pendulm then it is nuetral My friends belive me it works every single time ................... You could do so using your own malas............ and you would find that it swings anti clockwise for Garlic,butter........... and clockwise for lemon,oranges,......... and as a pendulm for tomatoes........................you could try it for all kinds of stuff...............and it lo!..works like magic.............. what a beautiful tool shiva has given us ............... so go ahead and start using the beads to its full potential............................... Any feedback will be appreciated as I am always learning and there is no end to the miracles of rudra and rudraksha........... Vipin.K rudracenter <no_reply> wrote: Dear Friends DharmaDev Arya writing from the home office email address There was a question that got knocked off the moderators list for some unknown reason so thought I would try and cover it here A member of this group asked about wearing Rudraksha at time of eating certain foods......we have covered this before however we can do it again garlic and onion and carrot and hot soups were questioned from a book that was not identified Siva Purana Vidyesvara Samhita part 43 states...A devotee of Shiva shall refrain from eating meat, garlic, onion, red garlic, potherb. slesmataka, pig of rubbish and liquors There is no mention of carrots and hot soups..................... Guest guest
Namaste This is most interesting post...I must have some input...the conclusion of DD is that some puranas and srimaddevibhagavat offer distorted knowledge...because they were written by different authors, some who were lying..! How can this be proven...? So if you really knoq this, what is true and not in the Puranas, how are you concluding...based on your own personal sentiment...? If not...how do you objectively separate false from true statements in these books..? About 3 mukhi and 7 mukhi and forgiving of sins... Why should this not be so? All bad karma cannot be forgiven if one sincerely repents and wear holy rudraksha? Lord Shiva is Very Merciful...? I understand the quotes...that not that you simply wear and then you can do whatever you like in the present and future..that is not to be understood from this..!! I rather understand this to mean, those text shows very clearly that even henious sins can be nullified by wearing Rudraksha, PROVIDED one has stopped this activity in the past. Otherwise, why do we find instructions to even avoid certain vegetarian foods opposed to sattvic influence..this to accelerate the burning of karma from wearing rudraksha...so about garlic and onions etc..it is widely known among Ayurvedic doctors that garlic has powerful physical and medicinal effect on body if prepared correctly...but also has dulling tamasic effect on mind and create too much semen and urge for sex in men particularly, that is why the restriction is there for people who want to live sattvic life without unnecessary hindrance..I have very clear personal experience of the effects with garlic..Onions are said to be very rajasic...maybe it is all the sulphur... Guest guest
Dear Satyadharma Ji Objective observations of certain mistruths found in some of the Holy Books....... as they apply to this age............ would take the form of observable phenomenon read in the Holy Books themselves.........you can ask any Hindu Priest in any Temple and one of the most important understandings for todays Hindu is that all the mentions in the Holy Books do not apply to todays age One of the reasons for this is that some of the Laws and Rules in the Holy Books may have been changed to fit the societies needs at the time in order to maintain law and order and control a population........for example the Bible in the Christian world has been changed so many times nobody really knows what was in the first book as the Popes over the years changed the information in the Bible according to their needs of the time In the History of India for example the authors of the Holy Books at the time ithe Kshantriya took SanatanaDharma from the Rich and gave the teachings to all people in the community so all people could perform Puja in their own homes was a time when Brahmanicide most likely reached its peak and Brahmans became targets for being killed due to their past descriminations and actions SriMadDeviBhagavat was most likely writting in this time as was the Padma Purana........In the SriMadDeviBhagavat Chapter Five part 39 it states wearing a 3 Mukhi Rudraksha will make a penniless person a millionaire........this is a rediculous statement and it is not good to promote such statements today as it misleads the public In part 40 to 53 is narrated the story of Gunanidhi who started out as Brahmin son of a wealthy man and then lost all that he had due to enjoyment and started thefts in the houses of Brahmins........he poisoned his mentor and became fearless....when his parents found out he poisoned them also.........when abandoned by kith and kin for being a drunkard he left for jungle with Muktavali and on the way he killed many Brahmins for sake of money Then the book goes on to say..............when that wicked died the attendants of Yama came for him and the attendants of Lord Siva stopped them from takeing him........the attendants of Yama asked the attendants of Siva why do they want to take him to Siva Loka........reply was that there was a Rudraksha 10 feet below where the man died This story is only one of many that cancles itself out if you apply the logical process of of observable phenomenon.......the author is clear in this story of how a murderer who killed Brahmans and his parents supposedly went to Siva Loka because he died in the area of a Holy Rudraksha Bead........this story is a false story and didnt happen by logic alone unless there are some rules that I dont know about entering Siva Loka.........you dont get the ultimate reward after a life of unspeakable crimes simply because you die in the area of a Holy Rudraksha Bead This is the age of accountability and if you kill a Brahmin today and act in the same manner as the man in this story you go to jail and face the death penalty.......the person does not go to Siva Loka As you menitioned I have also made reference to the Padma Purana in another message regarding wearing the 7 Mukhi Goddess MahaLakshmi Rudraksha forgiveing the sins of Brahmanicide or killing Brahmins......here again is a book that mentions all the sins that can be forgiven in the society from wearing Rudraksha Beads......simply isnt so.......by mentioning the crimes the beads would forgive means that these crimes were such a problem in the society at the time that something had to be done to relieve their continued negative effects on the nation in general Today if you commit the crimes mentioned in the Padma Purana the Judge does not forgive you because you wear Rudraksha Beads........I know of no court in the world that gives out attonement of wearing Rudraksha beads as restitution for killing people.......or stealing from others ........or killing women...........violateing the teachers wife.......or cheating in money transactions Point being made another difficult issue to tackle is that India has been conquered numerous times.........in the time of the British Rule the British East Indian Company went so far as to hire a German to re write some of Indias most important books........question is who has the list of the books that were tampered with and are we reading the transliterations of these books now........I dont know however the Sadhakas on Kauai may have the answer to this question I dont know where you got the idea that Garlic can produce Testosterone in men.......its not in any book I have read in the eastern or western world and if you go to any health food store they will be able to tell you that garlic helps with blood problems among other things I also told you about the different types of onions.......what was supposed to be read in the message is that there are different subspecies of onions that produce different effects on t he body..........from purple onions that help the heart to yellow onions that can actually cause heart burn What is true and what is not true in the Puranas is up to the individual reading and how much knowledge they have regarding interpreatation and logic.........you have to go with what you believe is true and listen to your intuition...........In these messages I am comeing forward in a public forum and going with what I believe to be true in general logical reasonable terms.........this may not be the same truth for you as we each have to find our own way in this lifetime.............I certainly have been wrong before however again the traps of maya and mara are many and we dont know if or how many of the Holy Books had been changed with additions or deletions before we are able to read them.........The Sadhakas at Kauai Monestary in Hawaii know more about this and have recorded some of it in a timetable of Indias History hope this helps to clarify Wishing you and Family the Best Thanks and Take Care DD In a message dated 8/25/2005 8:12:48 AM Pacific You are right in that we should look at the current circumstances. My rev Gurudev was a Vaishnav but even he took garlic when he developed heart ailment. Guest guest
Dear DharmaDev Ji Thank you for the reply. I do want to acknowledge that it is a fact that Puranas and other scriptures have been altered, that is stated by even prominent Acharyas. I have some further comments to what you wrote, but today is celebrating Sri Krishna Janmasthami, so I will not have time today to write a detailed reply until monday. As for garlic, I did not say anywhere it is increasing testosterone. I was giving the information from different ayurvedic physicians who are explaining its effect on the body and mind according to Ayurvedic knowledge and experience. Guest guest
Dear Satyadharma Ji Thanks for reply.............if you read the last part of your message it states that garlic can cause increase semen and urge for sex in men........this is not correct as testosterone produced in body from foods like meat increase semen and urge for sex in men.....Ashwaganda and Shilajit and natural Vitamin E and Ginseng combineations also work to help those that need and increase in semen and who wish to have familiy..............garlic does not have anything to do with produceing testosterone in the human body or semen or the urge for sex in men........that is the point I was trying to make......it is not used scientifically for this purpose nor is it biologically possible for garlic to act in this manner in the human body.......garlic protects the heart and blood If you can find a medical journal or an article or any scientific literature to the contrary then I would be happy to look at this Thanks DD In a message dated 8/26/2005 7:54:35 AM Pacific Standard Time, satyadharma writes: > > > Dear DharmaDev Ji > > Thank you for the reply. Guest guest
Dear Dharmadev Ji, Yes, I know what I wrote... I did not equate garlic with testosterone increase.... Increasing semen is not dependent on increasing testosterone, that is a misconception... Among practitioners of Auryvedic medicine, garlic is held in high regard as a vajikarana (aphrodisiac) and for its ability to increase semen... The following is an excerpt from Dr. Vasant Lad and Dr David Frawley's book "Yoga of Herbs": GARLIC is a powerful rejuvenative herb. It is a rasayana for vata, and also, to a lesser degree, for Kapha, for the bone and nerve tissue. It also is a powerful detoxifier and is good for chronic or periodic (Vata) fevers. It cleanses Ama and Kapha from the blood and lymphatics. Yet its heating attribute can aggravate the blood and cause or aggravate bleeding. Its quality is tamasic. Garlic can increase dullness of mind while, on the other hand, may increase "groundedness." It increases semen but also has an irritant effect upon the reproductive organs. So while good as a medicine, garlic may not be a good common-usage herb for those practicing yoga. Guest guest
Dear Satyadharma Ji yes have same book here on Yoga of Herbs and is simply a matter of my not agreeing with Dr David Frawly and Dr Ladd on this specific issue.....on page 120 it states that it works on all tissues - elements.....so in this context if they are going to include the entire body then again I would have to not agree with them.......they say it can increase dullness of mind........when you read things like this you wonder if all Italian nation is dull minded due to thier daily use of garlic as a nation......this is not true......some of the greatest minds came from Italy......and then again if you look at this statement again maybe it is the dull minded person who should be careful not to take garlic as it will increase their dullness...........it would really be nice if a person could understand exactly what they are trying to say........I know they are listing all the possibles in the book however this is simply a matter of my not agreeing with some of what they have written however I can see where you have found the information so I understand your message and thank you for your reply Wishing you and Family the Best DD In a message dated 8/26/2005 6:34:00 PM Pacific Standard Time, satyadharma writes: > > > Dear Dharmadev Ji, > > Yes, I know what I wrote... Guest guest
Dear Bhaktradj Ji This is a real difficult message to let through......the stories are endless with these negative dramas.....................can you tell us where exactly did you find this difficult to believe story about cutting up the cow and the resulting drama...what book is this in and what page is this on and then can you tell us what is the point of this story.......how does a part of a cut up cow tell people who are following the spiritual path not to eat onion and garlic and red beans and carrots.............what if it was the opposite and the Almighty God was showing people what they were supposed to be eating as part of the successful Yajna .......... people who follow the path of self realization are eating anything that will keep them alive...take a walk in the countryside of India today and meet with all the farmers and tribal people who have most nothing to eat on any given day and you will find them simply trying to exist......I gave up on these kinds of stories many years ago as they have double interpretation and serve only to confuse most people Thanks for the example though..........maybe we could tell Elephant and ant stories from now on.......as they make more sense in this age DD In a message dated 8/27/2005 5:57:05 PM Pacific Standard Time, bhaktas2 writes: > > > Dear members, > > On the subject of union and garlic the following contribution. > > Sadhu, Guru and Shastra explain that in this material world there are three > modes or gunas which rule this platform, tamaguna, the mode of ignorance; > rajaguna, the mode of pasion and satyaguna or goodness. Guest guest
Dear members, On the subject of union and garlic the following contribution. Sadhu, Guru and Shastra explain that in this material world there are three modes or gunas which rule this platform, tamaguna, the mode of ignorance; rajaguna, the mode of pasion and satyaguna or goodness. All foodstuffs are also placed in one of these modes. Foodstufs in Ignorance are eg meat, fish (mostly feed on stool en dead organisms), eggs (unclean because it actually a menstruation product), mushrooms (fungus), etc.Foodstufs in passion are eg Citric acid, verry hot peppers, etc. Foodstuffs in satvic are eg. milk and milk products, fruits, grains, vegetables, nuts etc.. When one wants to progress on the path of selfrealisation we should avoid foodstuffs placed in the modes of pasion and ignorance. We should only accept foodstuffs in the mode of goodness. It is for this reason that the Veda perscribes a lacto-vegetarian diet as best suited for humans from the point of few of spiritual upliftment. Although this is the main reasons that honest seekers should follow these rules and regulations it can also be deducted from scientific proof that it is better for our phisical and mental wellbeing. The saying "You are what you eat" means that that food that we take will be reflected in our live through our contiousness. The respective mode of the foodstuff influence our contiousness in that direction. I don't want to elaborate more and hope that the point is somewhat understood. The point of accepting the truth from the proper authorities I've elaborately explained in my writings to this group on the question "Who is The Supreme". In all subject matters it is crusial to have the proper authoritive guidance. This is not so difficult to accept as we practise this already in our day to day lives. I already gave the example of learnig to drive a car but it goes actually for what ever we learn. These are basic rules which we willingly or unwillingly have to accept if we are to come to a ballanced and proper few of actual reality. To come to the real truth we have to take help from Ghranta Bhagavat (God manifest as Shastra) under the guidance of a Bhakta Bhagavat (God manifest as the bonafide Guru). I already explained in earlier message the importance of purity and authenticity of both the book and the selfrealised guru who can truely guide us. We can never ever in a billion livetimes hope to ever even approach from afar the absolute truth on whatever subject matter on the account of our own conditioned mind and limited intelligence. Although it is a fact that in this age of Kali there are manny distorted scriptures distributed but this doed not mean that the real thing is not there just because one has not come across it or is unable to recoqnise it. Comming back to the point of why union and garlic are considered tamasic foodstuffs we have to go back to the ancient Vedic scriptures. The authentic Sadhu's and Shastras tell the following story about the origin of garlic and union. Although it may seem fantastic to some please think of all the unbelivable things we can witness today in the world as the tiny banyan seed which brings forth the enormes tree. If we were not able to witness it we would have never belived it. Shastras discribe manny things that we just cannot witness in our present condition but again this doed not mean that only because of that it is imposible. Simply to asume that would be an expression of arrogance. In the middle ages the europeans had no idea that infections were caused by tiny bacteria because they could not detect them by there limmited means of doing so at the time. This did not mean however that the bacteria were nonexistant. At the same time the accepted relative truth was that the earth was flat. Anyone who beged to differ was hung. The bonafide Vedas discribed and still does all these truths properly. The final truths which were correct then, are still correct now and will be so in the future. Real truths are independant of time and circumstance and unchangeable, only relative truths have this defect. Real truths never become stail. They are although ancient, ever fresh. These truths are revealed to us through bonafide shastras by bonafide, completely selfrealised gurus who hold the key to unlock the gems locked inside them. In Satya yuga there was a brahmin who was qualified and able to perform the Gomedha yanja. During this yanja an old cow was cut in to pieces and sacrifced in the fire. At the end of the sacrifice a young cow would come out as a sign that the Gomedha yanja was done properly and sucesfull. Nowadays the socalled brahmins are not able to perform these kinds of yanja's becaus they lack the power and are therfore also not allowed to perform them. As a prepration for the yanja the old cow was cut into pieces and left to be offered in the sacrificial fire. At that particular time the wife of the rishi was pregnant and had an insatiable craving (as pregnant women are known to have) for eating meat. She therefore took a piece of the sacrifice. Being a true brahmini though when she was in her cottage she knew that her husband would find her out because he would be able to see the true whereabouts of the missing piece of the sacrifice in his samadhi meditation (this were ordinary powers for general brahmins at that time). Fearing his wreat she burried the piece of meat with bone and all. When the rishi started the yajna including the whole body of the cow in his meditation during the ceremony, from the burried piece of cow manifested not only union and garlic but also read beans and carrots. Because of this origin these foodstuffs are rejected by all who properly follow the path of selfreliasation. Humbly remaing with kind regards, Bhaktradj .. Guest guest
Dear Dharma-Dev-ji and friends - this is an example of how dogma and blind belief distract people from a more truthful reality. While food certainly contributes to our consciousness - there are other far more important influences.... as my old Guru used to say - one gossip session is worth ten meat dinners. Additionally, the requirements for nutrition in today's world are far different than the world of thousands of years ago. The old outdated model no longer applies. Without the hindrance of negative belief systems, almost anything can be consumed without obstructing awareness. What we really consume is what we think and believe about what we eat. The actual food itself is far less significant.
Vipin.K AumShiningLotus wrote:Dear Satyadharma Ji yes have same book here on Yoga of Herbs and is simply a matter of my not agreeing with Dr David Frawly and Dr Ladd on this specific issue.....on page 120 it states that it works on all tissues - elements.....so in this context if they are going to include the entire body then again I would have to not agree with them.......they say it can increase dullness of mind........when you read things like this you wonder if all Italian nation is dull minded due to thier daily use of garlic as a nation......this is not true......some of the greatest minds came from Italy......and then again if you look at this statement again maybe it is the dull minded person who should be careful not to take garlic..........
