Hello there

To my knowledge, all that is offered to the 'SivaLingam' should not be

consumed by humans but to be offered to the plants('Jada'-entities that

do not/can not move freely) . Also to my knowledge, there is no

tradition of offering Tulsi leaves to the Lingam. What is appropriate

is 'Bilva Patra' either to be offered directly to the Lingam or used to

pour the purified water or water & milk mixture on SivaLingam.

Maybe someone else with different traditions can offer more insight.....

Kind regards

Anand

Hi Anand,

I know that if the Lingan is a properly installed Namadeshwar then humans

can consume the prasadam, otherwise not.

---Dear Sir,

The Holy Basel - Tulsi-devi is meant for worship of Lord Vishnu, and it

doesn't please Lord Hara.

To worship Lord Shiva please use the Beal Patra which is dear to Him.

Hope this helps

To All Members,

Please forgive me if I am wrong or ignorant, I always

have this question in my mind as to why we have to do

these poojas and offerings, cant we do good deeds and

lead a highly responsible and rightous life and

impress the gods above us.

Is there any other way to impress gods than doing good

karma, This is just my way of looking at it, please

correct me if I am wrong, I am just a small human

being and may be I am looking at it with a small

vision/perspective I have.

Thanks,

Divakar.

I have read in shiv puran that the offerings made to shivalinga should be

consumed by humans.

Please do ask a person who has thorough knowledge of the puranas for a

convincing answer.
