Guest guest
Hello Friends, Today I was at a nearby India Grocer and noticed that they had many strands of rudraksha. They were the same yellow type color as a strand of beads I recieved from the Rudra Centre, but when I looked closely I had difficulty finding clear clefts in the beads. Then I noticed that the holes had been drilled in them. Mistake of all mistakes- one bead had a hole drilled in the wrong place, off to the side! Also, the beads were $4.99 american per strand. I haven't seen a decent strand for under $20.00. These beads were strung on a white peice of string with no knots between them or anything to separate them. I haven't been using rudrakshas for long but I pay close attention to the advice given from this site and also the Rudra Centre. I feel silly even asking what anyone thinks, it seems so obvious. Could it be that these shopkeepers just don't assign any value to the sacred beads hanging in their shop? Or are they just fakes?
Guest guest
They could be real, but of poor quality. I find that problem at my favorite bead shop. They carry rudraksham of all sizes, at inexpensive prices. But, there are bug holes, drilled holes, worn down protrusions, lusterless surfaces, and indistinct facet lines. (sigh) :-) Celesst <celesstnw May 3, 2005 5:22 PM RBSC : real or phony beads? what do you think?
