It is considered highly auspicious by the holy men of India. Nagababas, sadhus, swamis, gurus, aghoras, tantrikas and ascetics use Gauri Shankar for spiritual purposes and protection. It is known to heighten meditative states and recommended for those seeking "Oneness" with God. A sannyasi wearing a garland or "Kantha" of 32 beads of Gauri Shankar is said to become Lord Shiva incarnate. The Gauri Shankar rudraksha is also noted for its influence as the unified and identified form of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. In this regard, it assists with matrimonial harmony enabling both husband and wife identify with each other as "One". When worshipped it also bestows family comforts, fertility, peace, harmony, joy, happiness and loyalty. The Puranas state that a bead of Gauri Shankar Rudraksha is regarded the best for family life. When counting the total number of mukhis or facets on different beads of Gauri Shankar Rudraksha, they are similar to other high mukhi rudraksha beads except the body parts are naturally joined together. For example, a Gauri Shankar may occur in beads of 9 mukhi, 10 mukhi, 11 mukhi or more. The 9 Mukhi Gauri Shankar is a bead with a total of 9 facets showing clearly on the joined beads. When wearing this particular Gauri Shankar, the values and energies of Gauri Shankar enhances the energies of a 9 Mukhi Goddess Durga bead. Thus the benefits and blessings are double.
