Guest guest
"OM NAMAHA SHIVAYA" Namaste friends! It is said that while doing japa on a mala, the mala should not fall below the level of one's navel, and therefore a bag called 'goumukhi' is used to keep the mala above the level of navel. It also serves the purpose of covering the mala. One should also keep the mala close to one's chest so that the vibrations of the mantras can affect one's heart chakra and therefore gradually one's entire being. A question arose in my mind for which i seek clarification. While wearing a mala is it alright if it is so long that it drops below the navel? Also usually it is recommended to have 108+1 'meru' bead. If one wants to wear a five mukhi rudraksha mala with a GauriShankar rudraksha and a one mukhi rudraksha as a pendant then what would be appropriate of the following three options: 1. 108 + GauriShankar + One Mukhi 2. 107 + GauriSahnkar + One Mukhi 3. 106 + GauriShankar + One Mukhi With warm regards, Badal
Guest guest
Dear Badal Ji Namaskar Mitra and thanks for your messge.........have never heard of this one.....people do japa with or without go mukhi bag depending on where they are and what the circumstances are and am sure many times part of male falls below naval so dont understand where this information comes from......do you have a reference book that states this somewhere or is this information from a friend or Guru of a specific group of people..........with about 14 different seperate states in India the customs change Yes while wearing Mala is OK to drop below naval as this takes in the Third Chakra in its entirety A wearing mala is a little different than a japa mala however you can use both for same purpose.........is your choice on the three options listed as you have minimum 108 on one mala and maximum 110 on the other Mala All depends on what you feel is right.......# 1 looks great to me as you have both the japa counter mala and the wearing beads hope this helps Thanks and Take Care DD In a message dated 3/13/2005 4:51:55 AM Pacific Standard Time, badalsuchak writes: > > > > > > "OM NAMAHA SHIVAYA" > > Namaste friends! > > It is said that while doing japa on a mala, the mala should not fall > below the level of one's navel, and therefore a bag called 'goumukhi' > is used to keep the mala above the level of navel.
