Guest guest
Namaskar(am), All ! In my previous post #8888, I had referred to a cone-shaped silver cup and referred to it as "kaapu" (which by the way was the term used by a friend of mine when I mentioned it to him; now he is not really sure that is what it is called). I am sure many of you are as mystified as I with this so-called "kaapu". So since I (wrongly?) referred to this vague 'object', I thought I should try to find out more about it. And find out I did, quite by accident. It is called Shatari. Lest I introduce any more confusion, let me quote verbatim from the source of this information (www.bhattar.com) : " Shatari and its significance (Crown with Lord's feet imprinted on it) God's feet are very revered and they are alluded to as being powerful. Worshiping His feet is considered as auspicious and it is said to bring salvation. As it is not practical for everyone to be able to pray at God's feet, Shatari has been conceived where His feet are installed (Praanaprathishta). In place of worshiping at His feet the devotees have the shatari placed on their head by the priest. " This nugget of info was found here: www.bhattar.com/html/faq.html That explains it. My apologies. I hope I have made amends to any distortion(s) that may have crept in here. Thank you, Srimati Simone and Lilly, for your kind words of encouragement. I am really learning at the Lord's feet ! GaneshAndLakshmi *** AUM ***
