Mould on bead?

Namaste all,

Someone has came back to me with a 3 mukhi silver capped bead which

has a dusty looking faint mould growing on it. Does anyone have an

idea what this is and why it is present? The person insists that they

have taken good care of their bead (and I do believe them)and that

the bead has only ever got a bit wet the once. I have also been able

to rule out perfume and body sprays.

Thoughts and insights are appreciated! Thanking you all,

Om Shanti

Neil

Namaste,

I have seen the same kind of a mound on the first bead of my rudhraksha jaap

mala (108 beads) that I use for meditation everyday.

Thanks

Dear Neil

only time have seen actual mould on a bead was in a humid atmosphere of

India......almost anything will mould or mildew in a humid

atmosphere.......depending on the situation...........take a soft toothbrush and

brush bead in soapy

water and then rinse in clean water and then dry.........then oil bead.......a

well oiled bead usually will not allow mould to take place.......one reason we

use mustard oil as it is also considered an insect repellent

Thanks

Namaste DharmaDevji,

Thank you for your response. To my knowledge the bead has been kept dry

and is kept within a dry environment, but did get a bit wet one time

(nothing excessive like a bath or shower). I will certainly be sure to

give the bead a good clean and oiling. Don't have any mustard oil,

usually use a sandalwood-jojoba mix which works very well and smells

heavenly.

Thanking you,

Om Shanti

Dear Neil,

"Om Guru NamahOm Namah Shiva"

I note with interest the general advice to oil Rudraksh beads and note

especially your comment that the oil mix you use, i.e. Sandalwood and jojoba has

a heavenly smell and wonder if you have ever noticed the natural kushboo that

the Rudraksh bead releases all of its own accord and independent of everything

else?

I would very much welcome your comments and of course of all of those far more

learned than me as to the remarkable phenomenon.

With thanks and best wishes for the New Year to all.
