Vanakkam Sri Sri K.S. Venkataraman,

Pranaams and warm greetings from Australia! Thank you Sri

Venkataraman, for sending 2 editions of your esteemed

magazine "Nitya Kalyan" to me. Much humbled and honored. Very

appreciative of your kindness and generosity of spirit. I am very

surprised that snail mails takes aproximately one week from India to

arrive in Australia. When we send snail mail to India, it takes 2

weeks or more for recipients to get them.....

(Sorry friends in America and Canada, once snail mails are sent via

airmail from your countries to Australia, they are either lost at

sea or take yonks to turn up like 2 to 3 weeks and in some cases, 1

to 2 months!)

Sri Venkataraman, in the very near future, I shall submit some

articles for your perusal and consideration as previously mentioned

in one of our old correspondences.

I think you tried catching me for 2 weeks (previously) while I was

away from Sydney last time. So sorry I didn't respond earlier.....

Receiving about 200 to 290 mails a day from different countries and

various persons, makes it hard to wade thru all the messages.

Please pardon me for tardiness.

Very much love the format of Nitya Kalyan in both Tamil and English.

Very well done in similar size to Readers' Digest size book. Lots

of potential for further improvements, features and projects!! The

articles give a lot of food for religious thought and guidance. Very

meaningful for those with an interest in the Vedas and Vedic culture.

Highly recommended to both Tamil and English readers!!

I shall certainly try to announce your magazine to Tamil-speakers in

Australia who are devotees of various Hindu temples in different

states and cities.

Are you at the moment in Chennai? If you are, then please telephone

the number in Madurai for Nitya Kalyan Magazine. May be Sri

Venkataraman (esteemed Vedic Scholar) with profound command of

Jyotish can give you some tips on where to find pilgrim sites, etc.

if he is free. Please respect his time/hours and phone first to see

if Sri Venkataraman is willing to see you. Best of luck and many

blessings.....

Om Namah Shivaya

Dear Sir,

Pranams.

It is a matter of general acceptance that the Vedas form the

foundation of sanatana religion now called Hinduism. The Vedas are

universal. The Nalayira Divya Prabandam and Thevaram are regarded by

Vaishnavas and Saivas respectively as the Vedas in Tamil.

Irrespective of the subdivisions, the tenets of the Vedas serve as

the unifying bond of our Sanatana religion.

There is an urgent need for providing knowledge of our Vedic

Heritage, Devotional Literature and allied areas of knowledge in

English because a

substantial section of our people, especially youngsters, are able

to understand these things better in English. This trend is likely

to grow further in future. Unless we provide an instrument of

communication in English for the specific purpose, the vital linkage

may be broken very soon.

Apart from this, there is one more important consideration. The

Vedas are universal. Even the Plant Kingdom has a right to be

benefited by it. It is our duty to share what we have inherited with

all the peoples of the world. So presenting them in English becomes

a moral obligation to us.

There are of course some general religious books and magazines in

English. Not all of them do justice to the universality of the Vedic

spirit. Trying to live within a shell created for us, however

comfortable it may be, is not adequate. It is not becoming of one

who has inherited the Vedic treasure by virtue of his birth.

But to provide a concerted effort in this direction, providing

coverage to all the subdivisions - highlighting the unifying aspects

of all but without spoiling particular sampradayas - an

international monthly magazine in English by name 'Nitya Kalyan' has

been launched.

The first issue of the magazine was released by Pujyasri Jagadguru

Sri Jayendra Sarasvati Swamigal of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetamm on

Vijayadasami Day (23-10-04) at Madurai.

Those interested in this mission may contact

venkataramanks for

further information.

I request you kindly to forward this message for the benefit of all

members of

our group.

They are also welcome to

join nityakalyan for better

interaction with the like minded persons.

With kind regards,

Kudanthai Sa Venkataraman
