Guest guest
Dear Umaji, I completely agree with Shri Dharmadevji. However, I should tell you what we decided on the same issue. Recently I bought my wife a Gouri Shankar bead. We grew up in South India and we decided to stick with the values and principles that we are comfortable with. So my wife decided NOT to wear during those days. Believe me, if you believe in Rudraksha and its powers, it will give you all the benefits regardless of 40 days procedure. It is all the faith that matters. I would recommend you to go with what "you" think as correct. See what your mom or other ladies in your family do during those days (religiously). Most Indian ladies, from what I've seen, do not involve themselves in any religious activities during such days. May westerners probably will not agree to this theory. Again, it is all different perceptions - nobody is wrong.
