Dear Friend

Precautions are few really...............is good to chant the mantra Aum

Namah Shivaya or the MahaMrityunjaya Mantra when putting on and takeing

off.........keeping on night table by head the first 40 days is a good idea and

is not a

good idea to wear in bath as the soapy water can dry out the

beads........showers are a little different however you will still lose the oil

you have on

the beads that keep them glowing with natural lustre............for the first 40

days it is best to wear at least one hour a day and if you can then 8 to 12

hours a day......if you have other questions please let us know

hope this helps

Thanks and Take Care

Hi all,

I am a young woman. How do I wear a rudraksha for the first time? Nature does not

allow one to wear for 40 days continuously. So, what advice can you give me?

Yours sincerely,

uma

Dear Umaji

Namaskar and thank you for your message..........have it on good authority

from a respected Brahman Woman that womankind can wear all days of

month...........womankind is responsible for the existence of all the

mankind..........without the monthly purification process there would be no

mankind............the

womankind can wear all days of month 24 hours a day and 7 days a

week.......the womankind is always pure as they are responsible for all the life

of mankind

and womankind on this planet.....there would be no human populations without

them......it is the fluids that leave the body each month dureing the

purification process that are dead and dying cells that are impure and naturally

leave

the body........so is the fluids that are impure

Seems most of Holy Books were written many years ago by men when sanitation

was a hole in the ground at most............there are some things in the Holy

Books that do not apply to todays Age we live in

hope this helps

Dear Umaji,

I completely agree with Shri Dharmadevji. However, I should tell you what we

decided on the same issue.

Recently I bought my wife a Gouri Shankar bead. We grew up in South India and we

decided to stick with the values and principles that we are comfortable with. So

my wife decided NOT to wear during those days. Believe me, if you believe in

Rudraksha and its powers, it will give you all the benefits regardless of 40

days procedure. It is all the faith that matters. I would recommend you to go

with what "you" think as correct. See what your mom or other ladies in your

family do during those days (religiously). Most Indian ladies, from what I've

seen, do not involve themselves in any religious activities during such days.

May westerners probably will not agree to this theory. Again, it is all

different perceptions - nobody is wrong.
