Guest guest
ATTN: The reason that a dropped emerald would break is because it is ALREADY BROKEN (before dropping). 99% of Emeralds sold are massivally included, with cracks throughout the stone. Usually these cracks are hidden from the view of a layman by heating the cracked stone in mineral oil. The oil enters the cracks because they are so BAD that they *break the surface* of the stone, in many places. Otherwise, without cracks breaking the surface, HOW can oil enter a flawless gem. You cannot even pass oil or even water through glass, UNLESS IT IS CRACKED. The answer is the emerald was already broken when purchased. Thus it is most unsuitable for anything other than to bury back into the ground... because stones SO CRACKED are dead as a door-nail. And DEAD STONE are bad luck. So why recut a dead stone? Why fix a "dead body?" Better bury it and count yourself lucky to have survived the bad luck of such a heavily cracked so-called emerald. Those who sell such heavily flawed non-jyotish quality emeralds for jyotish purposes belong on the OFF-LIST of the Planetary Gemologists Association.
