Guest guest
All - I have uploaded my rudram class audio files to the files section under a folder "Maharudram". I would like to give you few tips and disclaimers. Disclaimers: 1. I was not able to upload the audio file for "Dhyanam" to 5th anuvagam due to the size of the file. I recorded all of them in one single file. In today's class I will record them in pieces so that these can be uploaded. 2. These audio tapes are NOT recorded with this in mind. So you will hear some conversations between my teacher and myself in Tamil language when he corrects my pronunciation. Please pay attention to how he corrects me. 3. My name is NOT Elton John!! So you have bear with my voice!!!! 4. This class is conducted for me to perfect the pronunciation to begin with. So the speed is not the focus here. Also my teacher has broken longer words into smaller pieces to make it easier. Please don't compare this audio files with other files in the Internet as those were chanted by well versed pundits at a great speed. Once you are comfortable with the words, then getting the speed is no big deal. 5. Although there are only 11 anuvaghams in rudram, you may see 12th one. Actually this is an extension of 11th and I must have accidentally renamed as 12th. I will confirm this today. Tips 1. The standard we follow in repeating is when we learn anything for the first time, I repeat twice. During further repetition, I repeat only once. 2. First print the rudram in hard copy. 3. Play this audio file and repeat when I repeat in the tape. 4. Also please convert them into audio CD so that you can play while you drive to work etc. I should mention this - I have troubles when I burn them in CDs. When I play back the CD, it stops abruptly at the end of each file. But this doesn't happen when listening from my computer - I don't know why. 5. According to my teacher, the traditional way of learning rudram is not via books - is only via repeated listening and practice. However, referring books is not a bad idea. I use books while I repeat them. 6. Another best practice is to focus on one anuvagham till you can comfortably repeat. Then move on to the next.
