Dear Friends

Question was asked about revolveing Japa Mala and thought it might be good for

group site

Different fingers can be used for different purposes regarding the revolving of

the

Japa Mala and I can only give you the information from a book and let you decide

what is needed............ a person always needs to consult with a Guru or Hindu

Priest

in Temple if you wish to do a more complicated Japa Discipline for specific

purposes

Besides the Puranic versions of the uses of Rudraksha there is a mention of

merits of

their rosary in chanting mantras or mystic syllables by the combination of

different

fingers for different purposes in some other mystic literatures. It is held in

handling

the rosary that only fore part of the fingers should be used. There is a

prominent

bead which is normally the central portion of the rosary and is called Meru. The

Sadhaka while rotating the rosary shoud not overtake this Meru Bead while

counting

and then from the Meru he should count the recitation in the reverse order

Mantra for the attainment of salvation or religious perfection should be

recited by

revolving the rosary with thumb and Index finger and this is the way many people

do

Japa

To help attain peace and trance it is said to revolve rosary with thumb, middle

and

ring finger

Mantra for peace with the help of thumb and second finger and for the

attainment of

Mantra Siddhi with thumb and third finger

Thumb is used for final emancipation, finger of Jupiter for the prosperities

through

tradinges and business. finger of Saturn for wealth and happiness. finger of Sun

for

peace and finall small finger or finger of Mercury for all types of mantras,

siddhis

etcetera

Some prefer to revolve Japa Mala in Go Mukhi bag and some do not use Go Mukhi

Bag

Do not let mala touch ground when chanting and revolveing Mala........is said

some

use copper bowl with water where half the beads will remain in hand and half the

beads remain sinking in the water........then cover hand with cloth

After completeing the Japa that water should be sprinkled in the house int he

courtyard and it should be drunk. Doing so the person gets happiness and the

meditator marches towards Salvation

Wishing you the Best

Hope this helps Mitra
