Guest guest
Hi all, > What are your thoughts about seed pearls or river pearls/ freshwater > pearls? ---I believe that the "mukta" or "Moti" referred to by Shastra and jyotish can only be what THEY are talking about. And in those times, even up to 150 years ago, there was only one kind of pearl, i.e., natural pearl. This natural pearl is recognized in modern gemology. This natural pearl is a "single sacred unit"; such natural was created by nature in substance, SHAPE, and composition. Anything other than that is not shastric. Because Shastra didn't fore see that in Kali yuga humans would place -preshaped- beads in live oysters, and these coated by a layer of nacre (pearl substance). By in an x-ray it is clearly seen to be only a small % of pearl substance with out a pearl core or pearl make-up composite. Shastra also did foresee that the human race would become so illusioned (in Kali yuga) that the true PEARL of the Vedas would be forgotten completely, and humans would take a non-pearl to be a pearl simply on surface appearance, forgetting the sacred makeup of what is a real pearl 100% nacre and natural composite. Now, only a gemologist knows the difference between an imitation and a natural; but in the jyotish-gemstone world it has been comletely forgotten and unknown. A pity really, because there are natural pearls, in gem quality, and they cost about $2,000-$5,000 per carat. in ring sizes, and much cheaper in small NR sizes. At most that's about the same as a gem quality ruby or emerald - even though natural pearl - in GEM quality - is more rare than any of the nine gems, still it is not most expensive. What I have seen is that people are not prepared to pay a fair and reasonable price for a natural pearl due to complete ignorance of the difference between a naturally shaped and composed Natural Pearl- and all variations of cultured. If "nacre" substance is to be taken as a "pearl" then wood should be taken as a house, or a brick spray-painted with ruby (red corundum) powder as a ruby. Fact: Natural pearl is EASILY separated from all cultured by x-ray. But who wants to pay $6000 for a 3 carat natural pearl, when they can buy a cultured pearl much cheaper, for only $30,000 *GRIN* ---Actually a cultured pearl of 3 carats is only a few $. And you get what you pay for! When people show me their Sri Navaratna, containing a $2. cultured pearl, I don't know if I should laugh OR cry! Ram-tare-maya - "Oh Rama, this is Your illusion!" Hope this help... Om svasti astu! Best regards, Richard ______________________ Messenger - Communicate instantly..."Ping" your friends today!
