To put it very simply... the Gita an epic metaphore of a battle. Or, the

discussion

before the battle, rather.

 

The "enemies" to be defeated are the attributes and qualities of the illusory

perceptions of our universe that cause our self (ego nature) to seem to be

separated

from our Self (divine nature). Such as, pride, greed, ego, material and

emotional attachments, etc.

 

The mystery and magic of the Gita is that no matter what one's level of

evolution is,

one can find the right lessons and answers by reading and meditating on it. It's

an

extremely freeing holy book. It gives one perspective.

 

It's interesting..... I'm a speed-reader. But, I seem to read the Gita very

slowly,

because reading even one paragrah or sentence can often set off a whole series

of

new realizationas and perceptions.....

I just ordered up the ten CD set! $24.95 not bad at all!

Hello all,

 

jb} I have now purchased the Bhagavad Gita .. and I will set about reading it.

 

But it would help if someone would tell me what type of book it is?

 

What should I be getting out of it?

Bhagavad Gita is one of hte most holy books of Hindus.

the books contain conversation between Lord Krishna &

Arjuna in the bettlefield of Mahabharat.

I have that book, written by Sri Aurobindo, plus a collection of all the books

he wrote. When I go to India in November I would love to visit the Ashram in

Pondicherry.
