Namaste Bonnie,

With a little time and experience, I'm sure you'll pick up a lot

about Rudraksha. Your mala sounds like Tiger's Eye due to the color

mentioned. It is a good substitute for Cat's Eye. Orissa Cat's Eye

is sort of greenish-grey with white. Kanak Keth Cat's Eye is finer

and of gem value with a golden-yellow hue and whitish tint.

If your mala has no knots in between each bead, it is likely to be

strung in the Buddhist or Zen fashion. If it has knots between the

108 beads and the 109th (which is known as "Meru bead") before

reaching the tassle, it is a traditional Hindu style japa mala.

Fully understand about not owing a cow :) Neither do I in the

middle of Sydney. City living is not possible for this undertaking.

As with other Pagan practices, cowdung can be substituted with soil

as soil in the West contains dung used in fertilizers. For the

latter substitute, I use either spring water or milk. Lovely hearing

about your Reiki room. Sounds like a sanctuary with great healing

energies, peace and bliss!

We share with one another so if you have any questions regarding

rudrkasha and ratna, please feel free to ask away. Our learned and

experienced friends are bound to respond when they come online..

Om Namah Shivaya

cat's eye mala is more of a golden brown, with a burnt orange

tassel. I use that for my Reiki prayer. I got the book with my

rudraksha beads but it is written in another language, of which I

have no understanding. I need english translation. What I do have

in english speaks of cow dung and urine. I am afraid I do not own a

cow, currently. I love my Reiki room, it brings me so much peace

when I enter.
