Generally if conditions do not get worse during the time of wearing, it is a sign that it is working to your benefit. At any one time when we have a set of circumstances, it is due to karmic influences and lessons to be learnt in this life, at each stage, then we make progress and never have to repeat lessons or circumstances again. This is a little like being on the way to "liberation" even though still engaged in maya and leela. Would suggest you do daily invocations before putting on Navratna. Then see...... (Please visit the link that Sri Richard Brown posted for Navratna and you will see the invocation to use..) In my case, I have a navratna and personal mala or rudraksha that was made in a synergistic combination. For many years prior to wearing navratna, I had a build-up of karmas from previous and present lives and they were killing me Stonger people were bullying me, I was the main workhorse at the firm where I was working at the time but received no appreciation, health was bad, what money I earned was all sucked up by others with a million and one excuses, my weakness was I could not say "No" to anyone who said they had a problem.. Then there were unseen enemies that were later discovered -- these were the very people who needed me badly but at the same time felt threatened and started to thwart everything I tried to do. The greatest adversary behind the scenes appeared to be well meaning but was in fact contemptuous of all my efforts though at the time I had no idea. I had nothing (truly) but the mindset to work hard and live a peaceful life with very quiet, obscure and low profile. Meantime my health was getting worse each day....... Because of the immense build-up of karmas, many not of my own doing, things on a subtle level reached bursting points eventually. Within 30 days things began shifting with the first snapping of the thread on the navratna mala (I wore it 24 hours a day). This proved the first signpost of a series of negative events and people that were removed from my life. The mala snapped a few more times between 40 days and 90 days. Each time, something negative was removed. During that period, I was terribly sick and disappeared from this Group for two months, maybe more.. Later when I was well, I came back to report the results although I didn't mention what really happened (as in the above paragraph). The doctors had no explanation for the illness but I was awfully sick, out of balance and it felt like grey or twilight limbo during that stage. Later I realised that it was like a "purging process", a violent one again becos of built-up karmas. All this paved the way to more focused meditation, motivated changes inside and outside, and later learn the lesson in saying "No" when my prana or energies cannot absorb or absolve others who needed me. It is not being selfish or self-preserving but rather to allow room and time for more religious work and subsequently being available to those who deserve it, rather than have negative asuras hang round the neck and weigh me down to dust. After restringing and wearing the navratna in the next 90 day period, sadly later I heard the greatest adversary expired through a heart attack. Another was diagnosed with a terminal disease. I wish them all the best from my heart without ill feelings but glad they have all exited from my life. During all that time, only the Navratna mala's strong threads snapped but rudraksha mala remained intact. It was like wearing the deities of navratna and rudraksha round my neck who were protecting and guiding. Since then, I haven't looked back.
