Guest guest
I have started a new Y! group - chicagoland_shiva_puja - to bring some interested individuals together to perform Shiva Puja on a regular basis in the Chicagoland. I received couple of responses so far but would like see more responses. Currently, I do not know many pujas but have quite some Hindu Pandits in Chicago who is willing to come and help us start a puja. I've read for more than 16 years of Tamil literature in my school days, that are filled with Lord Shiva's and Krishna's stories. Here is one link for stories about 63 Naayanars (Shiva Devotees), for whom Lord Shiva personally accepted their devotion and offered him a permanent place with him. http://www.shaivam.org/naayan_f.html. My favorite is "Kannappa Naayanar", who pulled out one of his eyes and offered to Lord Shiva and continued on to get his other eye too. I found another link for the same stories – much easier to read too. I will share when I find it. The Hindu priest that I know in Chicagoland is very well versed with Sanskrit & Tamil literatures and is currently doing some discourses on Lord Shiva. I would be more than happy to organize a meet if I have enough attendees.
