Guest guest
Dear Jaminiji, I am shudra by birth. Yes i do agree with you that reservation system in India used as vote banks and misused. Regarding 79% reservation policy let me tell you that only 15% is reserved schedule caste 2% for schedule tribe remaining to persons belonging to OBC (other backward classes). Who joined this list because only for job oppurnities and like others hate shudras like very body else. You statement that we don't join defence it uterly wrong as my father is ex-service man and lot others in my relative. You may not find them because you would seeking in officers category as we were not educated, there are lots of jawan from our caste. Caste system is so worst in India that lot of people are ashamed to call them shelf dalits. In India suppose you meet any person say in train and that person likes to conserve with you the first question he asks is what is your caste. Again regarding schedule caste census shows that 16% of Indian population are shudras. In my opinion there only very few geniune shudras left as lot of them are converted to either Christain, Muslim and Buddist and other members of society are getting caste certicate so that they get job opporunities & helpful in getting concession in education. (Caste certicate is only helpful in Government and Public Sectors). And many shudras are not registered themselves as dalits resulting in no benefits from Government. Still there are lot of unfilled vacany in Government jobs. Regarding job opportunities, lot of government establishments are sold to private sectors and no new recuitments are taken as most of the work are given to contract. Let us assume that reservation policy started from 1947 Indian indpendence. I simply ask you a question. 1) WHY THE RESERVATION POLICY CAME INTO EXISTENCE? WHO IS RESPONSIBLE TO RESERVATION POLICY TO COME INTO ACT? 2) A GOOD CHUNK OF HINDUISIM HAVE TURNED TO SIKHISM, BUDDISIM, CHIRSTIAN, JANISIM. SLOWLY HINDUSIM IS GETTING DEPLETED IN ITS OWN LAND? WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS? My Guruji is also a Brahmin, i like him very much and saw true teacher in him. First thing when i met him, i told him about my caste still he accepted me because he is above all caste barriers. He is used to tell me we have to very flexible take good things from vedas and forget about things which do not work out at present times. In puranas it is told to wear 1000 rudraksha on head etc., do we do that and person not wearing rudraksha will go to hell. And not to mention that rudraksha mala made by shudras should not be worn. Please note that a "GOD CANNOT BE CALLED AS GOD IF HE NOT ACCESSIBLE BY RICH OR POOR OR BRAHMIN OR SHUDRA", otherwise it would kill the definition of GOD itself. Now let me tell you some stories of low caste people and god. 1) Krishna temple in Udipi, Karnataka was installed facing east, but it turned to west so that a low caste devotee Kanakadasa, who was prohibited from entering the shirne was tied and beaten in back side of temple, could look upon him through a crack in the western wall. 2) Shrikurman (turtle incarnation of Lord Vishnu) temple in Andhra Pradesh, faces east but Shri Kurma faces west with his back to the entrance. A low caste devotee of the lord is said to have called out to him from the back of the temple (as they were not allowed into temple that time) with such devotion that the lord turned around to face him. 3) Shirdi Sai Baba who is said to be incarnation of Lord Shiva had adopted a untouchable girl who was shunned by the society. 4) and so on... As Simonji said about Philosopher Shankaracharya, i shall continue on what chandala said that to Shanka "O distinguished ascetic!, you have established that the absolute is everywhere, in you and me, and yet you shrink from me as if i am different. Is it this body which is mine, built up of food, or do you wish to separate pure awareness, which is present here, from the same present awareness there? Is there any difference in the sun reflected in the water of the holy ganga and that which is reflected in the dirty pool in the street of chandala". Acaraya immediately recognised his folly bowed to chandala and composed five verses on the spot (Manisa Pancakam) saying that whoever he be, he who exhibited such equanimity of perception was indeed his guru, even though he be a chandala. Chandala then revealed his true form as Lord Shiva. As group which is discussion board of rudraksha beads an attribute of Shiva. Shiva is the only god in hindu trinity who is loved and prayed by all men, women, animals, and even demons, vampires, ghosts, spirits and all. As very body are childrens of Lord Brahma and have as much right to nature as rest of us. Shiva loves ghosts and demons like everyone else. It is said that he who is rejected by everyone will always find refuge with Shiva. His ganas, companions include ghosts, wild bunch of social misfit, ugly, deformed, complete renegades creatures who do not fit into any society. Only thing that we require to invoke god as said by themselves in all their incarnation "One who call me with pure devotion and faith shall have my blessing". Rudraksha bead is just one of the attributes of Lord Shiva. With Warm Regards, Satish - Jamini Padhi Friday, March 19, 2004 2:17 AM RBSC : Thank you Jaminiji Namaste Simoneji (sister), Your last line in the previous mail was "At the end of the day, everyone still breathes the same air with feet walking the same Mother Earth planet and merit is not selective of caste or religious path either". I wish it was true in India. India has a funny system of "reservations" like you have for the aboriginals or the Red Indians in the USA - but it is a one time reservation which you people follow. His / her next gen does not get the benefits. In India, I don't know what the Brahmins have down 1000s of years ago, that the Govt reserves everything from free education to lowering of marks for entry to Civil Services, Medical Schools, etc. the level of reservation has reached 79%. I being a brahmin have to score 95%+ marks to get admission to say a medical college but these "other" called scheduled tribe and scheduled caste just have to get 50% and walk into the medical school, every where you will come across them sitting in front of you to the extent that even when they get a job ahead of the most eligible brahmin they are given accellerated promotions, it is a stinking system out here. These (not all though) are the people ruining the Country - when it comes to joining the defence services they say "no no what if I get killed"...because they know very well that a pretty safe and good job is waiting for them. This the 3rd or 4th generation and their enjoyment is not over..they want more and more everyday. This boils every brahmins' blood but our politicians just want to get votes foresaking the Country... It is nice to hear that you said what I have quoted above and for that matter any sane person would do so. This is the reason the words like shudra are hated in India..esp. by the brahmins. regards and take care, Jamini Simone <syzenith wrote: Namaste Respected Jaminiji, Dear brother, I understand fully your highly placed background and gloriously magnificent position but please bear in mind that other members may not have any idea about it. Remembering some of your previous posts, may I mention the following only in discussion, not in debate: 1) I think you mentioned something about people using the name "Ananda" and that it is not enough.. I fully agree with this in one concept, in that some of those who have been initiated as swamis or sanyas need not neccesarily know everything or evolved enough to fully live up to their names. There are also others who are true masters who walk their talk, live and breathe the "Orange" that was poured into them by their gurus during initiation. I don't think most people are comfortable to use the term "ananda" in their names if they are not initiated. Please know that those who use "Ananda" in their names on this List, are all initiated shining ones. 2) Pretty sure you mentioned about something or someone being lower than a chandala if they did this or something else.. Did you read the story about Sri Shankaracharya washing himself in the Ganga Maa one day and a chandala went to wash also. The chandala was freely splashing water around and some drops landed on Shankaracharya who said "O' chandala, be careful of where you splash"...... The chandala gave a reply and during their conversation, Shankaracharya then realised that the chandala was in fact Lord Shiva in disguise and begged forgiveness. After that Shankaracharya went away to meditate for many years. This story is in the ancient books and contains a nice advice why some of us prefer to "greet the Divine in everybody" instead of looking at the bad or negative of someone or some situation. 3) Touching on your good point about "Shudras teaching Brahmins.." (this was deleted from your post as it sounded derogatory at the time) the answer is also in the Holy Books somewhere where it says that "Everyone is born a Shudra but to become a real Brahmin is by merit". I'm sure your Guruji and his ashrama will be able to discourse further about the Shankaracharya story and about shudras and brahmins from the holy books. Please ask them. At the end of the day, everyone still breathes the same air with feet walking the same Mother Earth planet and merit is not selective of caste or religious path either.
