Dear Cyra

How is the Ganesh chanting going? I do not wear my rudraksa during

menstruation, but I do chant the mantras not with the mala.

Dear learned elite friends.

im a staunch beliver of god, and love to worship as

shiva & shakthi.

i have widely read on various concepts of hinduism.

but, still i dont understand, why we exempt ladies

from worship for specific period.

i would request the people in the group who have

authority over this particular subject to kindly let

me know, why women are considered impure for a

specific period of the month.

in assam, and in chenganoor of kerala, even the devi

has this menstrual cycle. those 3 days the sanctum

sanctorum is closed. on the 4 th day, special poojas

are done and the regular poojas starts,

as a person who has admired both the normal worship

and the thanthric worship, i still dont understand,

why ladies are treated with partiality. it is a

general phenomena of mammals.

If we see athma as God, isn't it correct that the

physical impurity will not affect, isn't it that athma

is beyond the genders ?

can some one explain ?

with best regards,

the lord's dasan,

aravind.

Not sure I quite understand this, either. When the menstrual blood is leaving

the

body, the lady's body is actually "cleaner" than while the unused "blood

lining" is still

within the uterus.

I think it depends on one's tradition, as some traditions apparently do allow

women

to participate while they are menstruating.

I know that one Hindu priest told me that the dark coloring on the Shiva lingham

is

the menstrual blood of Parvati.

Thanks, K.
