rudraksha mala placement

Namaste to all,

I have a query. Hope someone will help me.

I have a mala of Rudraksha in a Red Thread purchased from Rudra

centre Mumbai, India. This contains total 13 Holy Rudraksha Beads.

While going to sleep I put the mala around the photo of Lord Shiv.

However if I want to place it below my pillow so that it remains

under my head all the time when I am sleeping during night:

1. will it damage the beads due to pressure of the head, friction or

due to movement of my head during sleep.

2.What precautions should I take while keeping it below the pillow

while sleeping etc

3. I also wear a gold chain. Sometimes while taking out the Holy

Rudraksha mala from my neck the Rudraksha Mala gets tangled with the

Gold chain which I fear may damage the beads. Can somebody advice me

how to tackle this?

An early reply will be highly appreciated

Best Regards and Pranaams

I can't tell you how to keep your mala secured under your pillow.

But, I often sleep wearing my beads. The beads are very hard. Rolling on them

will not

hurt them. Nor will your chains hurt them, because they are harder than the

gold.

Thanks, K.

BTW-- The mala tangling with chains won't hurt the beads, but it might

eventually

break the thread. Some of us restring on wire with spacers to solve that

problem.

Namaste all,

Even I go to sleep with my mala and my mala also gets entangled with the gold

chain that I wear... but that has never bothered me because I love my rudraksha

so much that can't I find a min or two untangle it...this happens daily..and I

don't worry about it. Luckily, like Kari has pointed out that it might damage

the thread.. so you may go for restringing in silver or gold. Silver is okay as

you might find the gold spacers a bit costly but there are some believers that

12 mukhi should be capped with gold only.. wonder what the truth is but

Rudraksha is good for ever; I have asked many people and read many books but no

one says that rudraksha is harmful.. say like a gemstone...another thing about

rudraksha is that you wear it but don't forget to pray to lord Shiva...anyway

you prefer...even thinking of him will benefit you..

I have read that capping twelve mukhi on gold is good, but silver is also good,

if gold

cannot be afforded. My 12 mukhi is strung on silver, with silver flowers and

sphatik,

on a choker.

But, people who string 12 mukhi on thread also report excellent results. So, I

think

it's a matter of personal preference.

I have strung my choker and wrist malas on sterling wire. Sterling wire is both

too

malleable and too stiff for my long, 108 bead malas. So, I use metal beading

cable

(which is braided fine steel, with, I think, nylon coating), with sterling end

caps and

flowers.

You can also simply continue to use the thread. If it breaks, restringing with

fresh

thread is a nice meditation. Just remember to tie knots between the beads.

Yes, wearing and using the beads is a great comfort, isn't it? It's like having

Lord

Shiva very near.

Thanks! Love, K.

Namaste

I remove my malas, i have one 7,8,12 mukhi in red thread capped with silver and

another 5 mukhis capped in silver 54 in no. So I remove them and place in in my

pooja near the shiv linga and the go for sleep,It is better not to wear them

during sleep and also when one is having bath.On can wear it in the morning

after bath and pooja(small pooja --like just lighting the lamp or camphor etc)

or a long pooja ,when one has time like on holidays or weekends. This energises

the beads repeatedly and it also helps us in the routine of offering pooja to

lord shiva everyday.

Friends do get back to me on ur views and any new suggestions

regards

vipin
