Namaste Sri DharmaDev and Friends,

Has anyone experienced this with their email addys? Emails were

generated from my addy and sent to strangers whom I don't even

know. My Address Books also does not contain their addresseses.

This is a mystery..... If someone knows what this is, please kindly

enlighten me :) Please scroll below and have a look at the

phantomly generated message, thanks.

Many thanks also to all friends who have posted messages here.

Shall come back later today to join you.

Om Namah Shivaya

hello syzenith -

how are you? hope you're having a good day.

this sounds pretty nerdy, but you may want to run a virus-checker on

your system -- i had a problem similar to this, where apparently "i"

(or at least my email address) was sending weird racy emails to all

sorts of people i've never heard of. i scanned my system and found

that somehow someway my computer had been infected.

it may be the w32.mydoom virus or some such -- mydoom spread all

over the internet circa january 29 or so, so you'll need to update

your virus definitions. you can download a check for the virus for

free at (http://www3.ca.com/virusinfo/virus.aspx?ID=38102).

i hope this helps. i'm not really tech-support, but anything is

worth trying i guess.

best of luck,

allen

There is a virus that does that. People of whom you have never heard get

infected

attachments, ostensibly from your address. Some of them send understandably

hostile e-mails. I don't remember where it picks up the addresses-- could be the

member list. It may or may not be your address book.

The virus was doing that to me, for awhile. It seems to have stopped, some weeks

ago. Since it is not possible to infect my computer, I don't know where it got

my

address.

Love, K.

This kind of problem generally is generated by a worm installed in a

computer. I

had a similar problem once: after receiving all the emails the Outlook

Express tried

to send blank emails to all the people in my contact list.

Dear Jorge ji,

If you are not already aware of the flaw in outlook express then may I suggest

that you don't use it at all. Remove the configuration without thinking twice.

This mail keeps some of the ports open, which are very not desirable, due to

it's MIME.... Viruses, etc lazily get through open ports. The firewall, etc

think that it is a valid mail and does not do anything against it.

Om Namah Shivaya!
