dear Rohini

Panchamrit = panch+amrit panch means 5 and amrit meaning nectar

Panchamrit is a mixure of Water, Milk, Curd, Honey and Ghee. the panchamrit can

be easily made at home by mixing these. the mixure is used for doing abhiseka.

The abhisheka can be done by chanting the mahamriyunjay mantra or Rudra Namakam.

i uploaded audio files of these in the files section on the Board. you may like

to hear. Let me also tell you that Lord Shiva is Abhishekapriya meaning he loves

abhisheka done on the shivling. hope this clarifies.

warm wishes and OM NAMAH SHIVAYA.

Dear K Kr ji,

Abhisheka can be done by chanting 'Rudra Namakam' or 'Mahamrityunjay mantra'.

Abhisekha done by chanting Rudra Namakam is called ekarudrabhiseka which i do

regularly and takes about max half an hour including 'Anganyasa' and

'Karanyasa'. for that you need to first learn rudra namakam either by yourself

or thro a guru. doing abhisekha by chanting mahamritunjaya mantra is simple

abhisheka and also very good. Now coming to the process of doing it.

you need - A photo or idol of Shiva. if idol then not very big.

-- A shivling- made of spatik (is better) or marble or black

stone AND a bowl to keep the shivling.

-- 2 lamps

--- 2 panchpatra/ glasses with uddarani/ round spoons--filled

with clean fresh water

-- Flowers, Sandalwood powder, Vibhuti, Incense sticks, camphor ,

fruits for offering (if no fruits then unboiled milk + sugar mixure )

-- A dhoti for wearing.

After morning bath wear dhoti and sit in front of the altar facing EAST. Apply

tilak/sandalwood paste on your forehead. take one panchpatra of water and mix

pinch of turmeric powder. now take a spoon full of water in your hand and Chant-

Apavitra Pavitrova Sarva Vastanga topiva

Yasmarate Pundarikaksham

SabhaYabyantara suchihi. Pundarikaksham Pundarikaksham Pundarikaksham

Now sprinkle the water on yourself and on all the items of puja and area around

the altar.

then chant the beeja mantras for the rudraksha beads you are wearing

nine times and wear them.

For doing Gayatri jaap you need to recite the Sankalp first and then do the

jaap- minimum 10times-(Dasa Gayatri) or 108 (shata gayatri) or even 1008

(Sahasra gayatri)

After that you can do the Abhisheka. For abhisheka wash the shivling and place

in the bowl and keep in front of the Photo or idol of Shiva. Apply little

turmeric powder, kumkum , sandalwood paste/powder and vibhuti.

In the second panchpatra of water mix little turmeric powder, kumkum ,

sandalwood paste/powder and vibhuti. Use this water for doing the abhisheka now.

After abhisheka is over empty the water collected in the bowl in back into the

panchpatra and wash n keep the shivling the bowl as it is. This water is taken

as thirtham or Prasad.

Now again apply little turmeric powder ( Haridra Samarpayami) , kumkum (kumkum

samarpayami), sandalwood paste/powder (Gandham samarpayami) and vibhuti.(Vibhuti

Samarpayami) To the shivling. Then offer flowers (Pushpam Samarpayami)—then

light incense stick and offer (Dhoopama grapaymi)—then show the burning lamp to

the shivling (Deepam darshayami) –then say Dhoopa-deepa anantharam naivadyam

samaparpayami--- sprinkle water (from the 1st panchpatra) on the fruits and

chant gayatri mantra. Then say phalam samarpayami for fruits, if it is

milk+sugar mixure say shira chakkara samarpayami if coconut say Narikela phalam

samarpayami--- AND SAY

Om Pranayaswaha, Om apanayas-swahA, Om UdanayaSwaha, Om Samanayas-swahA, Om

Bramhaneyes-Swaha madye madhye paniyam samarpayami phalam/shirachakkara/narikela

pham naivedyam samarpayami. Naivedyam anantharam aneka ananda karpoora

niranjaNeyam Samarpayami—burn camphor in a small plate and offer to shivling

while ringing the bell.

Then Say –

Mantra heenam Kriya heenam bhakthi heenam janardham

yadvitham mayadevam paripoornam thathastume.

Meaning- kindly forgive me if they are any mistakes in chanting the mantra,

process of doing, in bhakti to you my lord.

Then do namaskar to shivling and take Prasad. While taking the thirtham (water

collected after abhisheka) say

Akala Mrityu haranam, Sarva vyadhi nivaranam,

Samastha papa kshyaaKaram,

Vishnu padodakam Shivoham Shivagum Pibathe.

And then drink.

The offerings whether it is fruits or milk+sugar or coconut has to be taken as

prasad by person who does the puja or alongwith his family. Or even can shared

with one who is present after the puja…

As far Abhisheka and jaap are concerned, In Jaap you are meditating by chanting

a specific mantra. In Abhisekha you do jaap i.e recite the mantra as well as

offer to the lord simultaneously. Both are advantageous.

For doing jaap of any mantra, yes you can use the same mala, no problem.

Now coming to your Saturn problem. For that I believe doing Gayatri regularly

108 times and Sahasra Gayatri on Saturdays will be very beneficial. Gayatri

mantra is supposed to be the mother of all mantras and very powerful. But for

doing Gayatri jaap you have to say Sankalp first. Mrityunjaymantra jaap can

also be done. For that reason I suggested for doing abhisheka while chanting the

mrityunjay mantra which will serve two purposes, both doing abhishekha and

chanting the mantra.

I sincerely pray the almighty to shower his blessing on you for health.

1. Can you pls tell me what is abhisheka and how it is done in

details? Also after abhiseka process can I do Jaap of Gayatri Mantra for 108

2. You have said that "after you finish abhisheka empty the water collected in

the bowl in a sepate bowl and wash n keep the shivling the bowl as it is". What

should I do with this water which has been emptied in seperate bowl.Whether the

Shiv ling be washed with plain pure water or Ganga Water or milk?If Ganga water

is not available then what?

3. On monday you have told to do the process of abhiseka with

punchamrita and offer coconut.Whether after offering of coconut the coconut

should be consumed as prasad or what?

4. As suggested to do abhisheka instead of Jaap , can you pls tell me the

advantages of abhiseka over Jaap. How much time it takes to complete the whole

process of abhiseka and how many times(minimum) one should do the jaap of

mahamritunjay mantra while abhiseka.

The purpose of doing jaap of mahamritunjay mantra 108 times was to remove the

effect of Saturn due to which I am suffering from a chronic disease for which I

have visited so many doctors but without improvement.

5.You have told that I can do the Jaap of mahamritunjay mantra ,all kind of

Yantra beej mantras,"OM Namaha Shivaya" etc with the same mala of 108+1 Beads of

5Mukhi Rudraksha.I want to know one more thing which I forgot to ask before and

that is whether the same mala as mentioned before can also be used to do the

Jaap of GAYATRI Mantra.

I shall be highly obliged if you answer me all the questions as I am in urgent

and great need.

Dear Rajeshwari Jee,

It is excellent description of Rudra Abhishekh. Thanks for sharing

your knowledge with us. I will be thankful If you can answer few

questions:

1. When you do gayatri mantra you said you have to do "Sankalpa"

before starting even Dasa Gayatri. What is the meaning of "Sankalpa"?

2. I reciete beeja mantra for all the mukhis I am wearing, 3 times

each, after I finish all my prayers, though I wear them as soon I sit

in front of my Altar. Is it something wrong? I wanted to do this

till I complete 45 days of my wearing rudraksha. I read somewhere on

this site, that it is recommended to reciete beeja mantra atleast

for 1st 40-45 days to make the rudraksha mala get the maximum

stregth.

3. Can We Join all the beja mantras of the different mukhi

rudrakshas and say it as "One Mantra" repeated 9 times?

4. When I started wearing my rudraksha mala 38 days back, I was

knowing nothing about rudra abhisheka. After wearing it for 2 weeks,

I coincidently came accross a Pandit jee of a mandir and out of the

blue I asked him how do we do Rudra Abhishekha, Since it was a

Monday, He just said come after 2 hr's to mandir I will help you do

it. And I was helped completing it as a complete ceremony of atleast

1 hour. My question is that, was it alright to do it after a 2 weeks

of wearing rudraksha not before wearing it for 1st time?

Please correct me if their is anything I am doing wrong or If their

is something I shouldn't have done then let me know how can I

correct it now.

I will really appreciate your help on this.

Dear K Kr ji

you have very well understood the process. 1st-- i would

suggest that, while chanting the beeja mantra of rudraksha, hold the particular

bead with two fingers i.e., thumb n index. suppose u are chanting beeja mantra

for 3mukhi bead, then hold that bead and chant the mantra i.e Om Kleem namah.

similarly for other mukhi beads too.

2nd-- Strictly speaking i am not aware of the process of making Vibhuti. but if

you are in india it is easily available. if you r outside then you should be

able to get it near any hindu temple.

3rd-- as far as kumkum , u should try to procure pure product.pertinently, when

you take the prasad i.e., thirtham you are taking only half/or full spoon of it

and not the whole thing.

4th--min no. for chanting mrutyunjay mantra is 11 ; max is 1,00,008 times. but

you can do till the panchpatra is epmty.

5th. Cow milk is most auspicious. if not available then baffalo milk will also

do.

lastly as for audio files, i do have but the size is too big 50mb + to upload to

our board. i shall try to make separate parts and upload, if not to the board to

any other webspace. kindly bear with me. i have uploaded the mrityunjay mantra

to the files section. hope you heard it.

nine times and wear them.

1. Can you pls tell me what is abhisheka and how it is done in

details? Also after abhiseka process can I do Jaap of Gayatri Mantra for 108

times?
