Guest guest
Dear Members, Thanks for your responses about the proposed study. Kanti, I will go ahead and finalize a form for it. Please, if there are any programmers or web designers out there who would know the ideal way to build a form to make the data most usable, please let me know. That is a hurdle that I personally don't know how to get over. Also, as I am not a scientist myself, it'd be great to get ideas on how to best structure the data collection. I'm a bit unsure how much help this study will be as it is not, as Suraj pointed out, a double-blind one and there is no way to confirm the data submitted, but hopefully it will prove a useful body of information to someone down the road. Thanks again, elizabeth SBC DSL - Now only $29.95 per month!

Guest guest
Dear Elizabeth: I admire your initiative but i have already expressed my reservations about the study in private. I won't go over it again except to say that a "study" has to be impartial (otherwise people call it advertisement). I thought i'd make a few suggestions as i have personally participated in a clinical trial in a hospital in North Carolina(i was part of a two man team that conducted the study) and perhaps you might find something useful. Formal trials usually have a prepared list of questions, a fixed number of participants (this is because if the first ten people you survey say that rudrakshas are great and the next ten say that rudrakshas suck, you cannot arbitrarily decide not to include the responses from the latter ten)and a time period for the study that is determined in advance (again for similar reasons). Of course, in reality you always have to bend the rules somewhat. Also, you cannot include people who have already worn rudrakshas and have experienced positive or negative results because that would be like providing a pre-determined response to your questionnaire. A study has to be a work in progress not a collection of testimonials on things that have already happened. Just my thoughts. Good Luck!
