Dear Ryanji

Namaskar My Friend

Will try to answer questions from experience we have had regarding process of

Purifying Beads and Cleaning Beads with light brushing and Keeping Beads Oiled

at all times

1. Some wearers only give their Beads Oil Baths to clean them same as we treat

our skin to an oil bath in Abhyanga however we also have a choice of mild

detergents or soaps with different chemical compositions like Woolite that

protects the oils in the item being washed. Due to chemical composition some

soaps will dry a Bead and some mild detergents like Woolite will help protect

the oils. We recommend a person does not sit in bathtub water that is a mixture

of bathing soap and water because some of these types of soap is made to

specifically remove oils

2. If a Bead remains oiled then pure water and light brushing is perfect to

remove fine particles because minimal exposure to pure water will normally not

remove the oils and will not dry out the Bead. After pure water and light

brushing then Oil is recommeded again to restore oil in beads

3. To be really specifec regarding descriptive words.......... Beads are

always....... lightly...... brushed with a soft toothbrush and not scrubbed in

what might be interpreted as a heavier manner. Beads need to be kept in a

lightly oiled condition at all times with Mustard Oil or Sandalwood Oil that can

be purchased at any local Indian Market. This oil is lightly brushed on the

Beads with a soft toothbrush when they become dry or if you notice a lot of dust

particles on the Beads.

4. Normally we would wash and lightly brush beads....... to clean them.....prior

to special occassions and if they become heavily soiled for some reason so is

really not an every day or every week practice from what has been seen

5. For some reason dont remember seeing information stateing water is food for

Rudraksa however we do know that the really like Mustard Oil as this makes them

strong

6. General conscensus is to bathe with oil more than water and soap so the bead

will not experience a drying effect that can on occasion actually cause any

natural cracks to increase in size

7. Yes the natural Rudraksa sometimes do have the smallest natural cracks around

the mouth area sometimes. From what I have found this seems to be part of their

natural growth process. In addition we have sometimes seen these cracks increase

in size as the Holy Rudraksa are doing their work for us in balanceing our

Neurophysiology. Best way to prevent these cracks from becomeing enlarged is to

keep the Beads lightly oiled at all times meaning oil and lightly brush every

two weeks as a standard

8. In the Rituals to Purify the Rudraksa have not found soap mentioned at any

time

I continue to wear the Beads that have changed from doing their necessary work

on my behalf and sometimes I also retire these Holy Rudraksa to the worshipping

place to be with the others that have helped me and then new Beads are added to

the Mala

Hope this helps a little

Thanks and Take Care My Friend

New Rudraksha Wearer With Questions

Greetings:

My Rudraksha has arrived from India, The Rudra Centre. It is the

Dhyan Yog Kantha necklace. I have a few questions.

In the book it says to wash it with soapy water and then scrub it

with a toothbrush, and put sandalwood oil on it.

It also says not to get soap on it because that will dry it out.

This seems contrary to the previous statement.

What kind of soap do I use? Where do I get sandalwood oil, and how

often should this be done? When it gets grimy? Once a week? Once a

month?

Also, what about water? It says it is good to bathe with them and

that water is food for them. (As long as soap is avoided.)

Yesterday I felt the urge to do so, but I didn't want to subject them

to our treated city water. So I just dipped them in some water ran

through our water filter. How often is bathing with them

recomended?

Also, I read in the book that the Rudraksha beads should be free of

cracks, especially around the center hole. I noticed a 2-3 small

cracks around the center hole of the 9 muhki bead and a few small

cracks on other beads. Is this normal? I I Brought this point up to

neeta and I was told,

"Rudraksha are natural seeds from the tree . They have a skin

outside , which when peeled reveals the inner bead with different

number of mukhis . Small cracks are ignored and are found in all

beads . When you wear them , the beads would slightly expand and the

cracks would fill up . As the beads work for you , they may lose a

few thorns , which is natural ..But their proeprties and power remain

the same . We endeavour to select the healthist and fresh beads of

the season .

.."

The cracks seem to have gotten a little longer since I've been

wearing it and mentioned this to Neeta. Not much longer, it just

appears they go further down on the bead now. Your advice is much

appreciated.

My experience with this necklace has been profound. I wish to take

as good care of it as possible. I'm grateful for this gift of

Shiva.

Thanks,

Ryan-
