Guest guest
Greetings: My Rudraksha has arrived from India, The Rudra Centre. It is the Dhyan Yog Kantha necklace. I have a few questions. In the book it says to wash it with soapy water and then scrub it with a toothbrush, and put sandalwood oil on it. It also says not to get soap on it because that will dry it out. This seems contrary to the previous statement. What kind of soap do I use? Where do I get sandalwood oil, and how often should this be done? When it gets grimy? Once a week? Once a month? Also, what about water? It says it is good to bathe with them and that water is food for them. (As long as soap is avoided.) Yesterday I felt the urge to do so, but I didn't want to subject them to our treated city water. So I just dipped them in some water ran through our water filter. How often is bathing with them recomended? Also, I read in the book that the Rudraksha beads should be free of cracks, especially around the center hole. I noticed a 2-3 small cracks around the center hole of the 9 muhki bead and a few small cracks on other beads. Is this normal? I I Brought this point up to neeta and I was told, "Rudraksha are natural seeds from the tree . They have a skin outside , which when peeled reveals the inner bead with different number of mukhis . Small cracks are ignored and are found in all beads . When you wear them , the beads would slightly expand and the cracks would fill up . As the beads work for you , they may lose a few thorns , which is natural ..But their proeprties and power remain the same . We endeavour to select the healthist and fresh beads of the season . .." The cracks seem to have gotten a little longer since I've been wearing it and mentioned this to Neeta. Not much longer, it just appears they go further down on the bead now. Your advice is much appreciated. My experience with this necklace has been profound. I wish to take as good care of it as possible. I'm grateful for this gift of Shiva. Thanks, Ryan-
