Guest guest
Namaste! Dharma Devaji mentioned something the other day about the fact that the Vedas never mention female practitioners, only men. I came upon this in a book I was reading this afternoon and felt moved to share it. Although it is not saying the same thing, it relates to the same topic: "Western traditions have been dominated by the patriarchal view of Divinity as male, whereas Divinity has no such boundaries. It is both Mother and Father and yet beyond them altogether. We use Mother practice because when masculine energy and patriarchal view get too strong, people lack nurturing motherly qualities. History has shown that there can be much desruction in patriarchal cultures. Much violence and lack of compassion can be attributed to this imbalance in people. Men fail to respect women because of the imbalance. Threfore it is extremely efficacious in these degenerate times to embrace Mother practice. If we wish to cause true inner peace, to awaken true wisdom and compassion then we should embrace Mother practice. This means practice in which invoking Mother in the heart, sacrificing ourselves to Her, we arise as Her. Becoming Mother means being fully saturated with Her because being saturated with Her means She will act through the heart . She will inspire one's life. As you sacrifice your limitations to Her, so She will be there as you. You can then feel like the essential love in the hearts of all mothers and respond to the sufferings and needs of all beings as your own children. In Shakta Tradition, Mother is the Sacred Source which gives birth to all other deities. Mother is all things." >From the Book, "Cities of Lightening" by Samudranath; Blue Dolphin Publishing Om Hrim Shrim Dum Durgayei Namah !
