He shall roam the world in the form of Rudra He shall be respected by the Gods and Asuras always. He shall be honored like Siva Even the devotees of Visnu and other deiteis shall unhesitatingly wear the Rudraksa. In his commentary Sri Sankara states " 1 ) Withdrawing all beings at the time of cosmic dissolution and causing them to cry (rodayati) the Lord is called Rudra 2 ) It means He confers (rati) good (rudam) 3 ) Again He is thus called as He destroys (dravayati) pain (ruh) and its cause". The Linga Purana says " As the Lord removes (dravayati) pain (ruh) and its cause hence Siva the Supreme Cause is called Rudra". 4. pl. A group of eleven gods whom Yajnavalkya describes in the Brihad Aranyaka Upanishad. Which are the Rudras ? The ten ( sensory and motor ) organs in the human body with the mind as the eleventh. When they depart from the mortal body they make ones relatives weep. Because they make them weep (rodayanti) the are called Rudras.
