Guest guest
Dear Miss Thank you for your perfect message of beautiful adventures in life yes can identify with slow trains in India that make horn sound every 30 seconds during travel. Is like slow torture especially at night And yes can identify with becomeing ill while on travel as I came down with Intenstinal Malaria in Southern India. Thank Goodnes my India Family took me to Doctor in Nagpur Was so much in a state of Bliss in Temple in Chennai did not care that my body was dying Was worse physical discomfort trying to get better however that was what seemed necessary Thanks and Take Care My Friend DharmaDev Syzenith <syzenith <syzenith <> Friday, December 13, 2002 1:30 PM Re: Sell - Genuine Rudraksha Beads Namaste Devaji, The pleasure is much mine. There are many shops in Australia selling rudraksha malas, beads, murthis, pictures, masks, gemstones, etc. In a suburb called "Newtown" (not too far from me), it's like "Little India", many sari shops, sweet shops, Indian movie/video shops, Indian grocery stores - they all sell everything from cushions, scarfs, dresses, bangles, incense, camphor, jewelry, sari, Puja items to everything one wants from India. Most of these shops are operated by Fijian Indians who migrated to Australia and few are run by Indians from the subcontinent. Others are run by Aussies who want to cash into the Tibetan and Hindu market. In other parts of Sydney, the Aussies outnumber Hindus in selling Tibetan and Hindu items. Many Indian temples in Sydney too. Many ashrams too. But there are all far from where I live and I don't drive. Hindus buy from temples only. Ashrams sell to their own groups/students only - of course they charge high prices for classes, workshops, retreats and "enlightenment". The ONLY spiritual groups in Australia I'm good friends with, are independent Swamis, Poorna Sanyassins and Yogacharyas who have spent many years of their youth in India engrossed in sadhana. They have come out Great Men. And strangely we were in north India around the same time but did not cross paths while there. We only met in Australia many long years later! I was in Thailand, Kathmandu, Swayambunath, Pokhara, Delhi, Bihar, Calcutta and other places in the north when I was 18 (skipped school). Perhaps many people will be surprised but Yes, I travelled alone. Solo journey; sojourn. In Nepal, by bus, then by plane to India. In India by plane and also by train (slowest in the world and packed with hundreds of thousands of people, some even sat on the roof of the trains. Trains always late too.....) Strangely I spoke no Hindi or Bengali but each time I boarded a train, (many sweaty bodies packed full in one compartment) someone would get up and push others out of the way and offer me a seat..! I din't realize what it meant, and why they would be so kind at the time. But I felt honored and still remember those strangers' faces until today.. Its like maybe we had some kind of bond in previous births. Travelling from Patna to Calcutta on a train, I had high fever as the trained crossed the radiation zone. Many small houses scattered along the way, all had cow dung on the walls and roofs... Every time train stopped, there were kids, vendors selling sweets and chai (tea) in clay cups. I was too feverish to care. Then a lady boarded the train along the way and she was a doctor who was getting off at Rajasthan to see her son. She nursed me and by time the train stopped at Rajasthan, I was feeling better. Her Darshan lives in my heart. I had 2 big luggage bags but NOBODY during the long train journey stole anything. Many got on and off at various stops but none touched me but they stared all the time. Arrived at Calcutta train station......my Shiva!!!!! My Maa Kali....!! The thousands of people scrambling out and about, pushing, shoving, etc. Somehow the person who was meeting me, found me in the Correct carriage. It was at night and dark. I was wearing a special bangle and had my hand on the window. This person saw the bangle and jumped into the carriage to get me. Was sick for 3 weeks and back to feverish state in Calcutta but got well eventually. Somehow I did not enter any ashram to study. Along the way, I realized that what I wanted to find, was already "within" - the Adi Guru. I'm a 'free spirit' and do not go to ashrams, temples or "holy places' in Australia because over here (like I mentioned before..... its like an abattoir, man eat man, rat eat rat, many are money hungry and not interested in dharma. Only one place is GOOD - Shri Ramakrishna Mission (non-profit) in Sydney. I have utmost respect for them, they do many charities here. They have a bookshop and also sell malas but not cut throat like all the other places. They also have a small nunnery for nuns and help homeless people locate to government facilities for the disadvantaged in society. However, it is also too far for me to travel. Another GOOD place is the Hindu Youth Association (non-profit) - the founder is young man, university student, who visited Hawaiian monastery - Satguru Sivaya Subramuniyaswami's headquarters where Satguru not so long ago attained MahaSamadhi. Hindu Youth Association also does charity work and speak on youth issues, distribute free books to libraries and educate people about Sanatana Dharma. In Singapore and Malaysia, Dharma is better than Australia - they have Thaipusam and Kavadi carriers. I witnessed many processions with my own eyes and saw true devotion from people. Sorry for long story but seeing there weren't many posts the past few days, thought I'd share some humble experiences here.
