Namaste Soma:

Citrine, as you know is quartz based and in India quartz is called Sphatik.

Sphatik is mentioned in the Holy scriptures as being an ideal gem to wear

with rudraksha.

Interesting that you are wearing 5 mukhi and attracted to Citrine and Citrine

is one of the stones that are connected to that particular Rudraksha, the

Rudraksha of the Guru :-) It is often used when the Navratna, Yellow Citrine

is unavailable and this substitution is also mentioned in the Scriptures.

The only thing I could suggest about you getting looks from people is that

there are very small sized punch mukhi malas on the Rudra Center Site.

www.rudraksha-ratna.com.

I live in the rural midwest and simply explain they are "Holy Beads" from

India called Tears of God and they are worn for their healing

qualities..people understand.

Perhaps you may want to put an 11 mukhi Lord Hanuman bead in your pocket to

sheild you from other's negativity, Know of a man who had one put on a key

chain :-)

or wear a larger 5 mukhi as a pendant on a chain.

Thanks for your question and welcome to the Group.
