People are always asking what 108 means, it is pertaining to nakshatra or lunar

abodes. Nakshatra means undecaying. It pertains to consciousness. The part of

consciousness that is lively - the shakti - the shakti has an ebb and flow

called nitya. Nakshatras are 27 in number each has four aspects called padas.

27 x 4 = 108. 108 is the fullness of consciousness through all the padas of

nakshatras and represents the full collection of nityas or consciousness raising

modes of worship for a deity.

Mala, means flowers. It pertains to open chakras. One full mala is representing

all chakras entirely enlivened. One could argue the case for 108 being all

Sanskrit letter with Ah and A vowels that would be close to the 108.
