Dear Viniyakji

Kirkji at Kirk_Bernhardt can help with this a great deal

Our understanding is that a person who starts to wear needs to know that their

habits will change naturally due to the positive influence of wearing the

Rudraksa

We dont recommend any changes in lifestyle because we know if you simply wear

the Rudraksa the changes will take place by themselves so is up to you on

whatever you wish to do and what is best for you can only be decided by your

personal choice

Thanks and Take Care My Friend

Food habits of a devotee

Greetings to all.

I could not find any definitive guide to what kind of food is or is

not acceptable to a devotee wearing a Rudraksha mala ? Is it enough

to follow the guidelines laid down by your caste or do we have

special guidelines for these devotees ? questions like is meat ok ?

and if fasting is advised on any specific day(s) etc ...

Best Regards,

-Vinayak

Thanks for the shoutout Kevin-Ji,

When I began wearing more expensive malas I was still a chef, very much

addicted to drinking, as well as eating pretty much whatever I wanted. Well, I

finally (2 years later) don't drink much any more. I still eat whatever I want,

but yes I have found myself more inclined towards vegetarian foods and more

vital types of comestibles. Sometimes I get a sense of the feelings involved in

our foods in the West where the animals suffer much depression. I truely

believe that overconsumption of Western milk products can exacerbate depression

due to our depressed cattle in the US. This doesn't stop me from consumption of

these foods as that's basically all we have in the West now. Pretty soon we are

getting a health foods market in the area and I will have some additional

support to eat better. We do what we can is my belief. Why do something if you

don't feel the need. The mere wearing of rudraksha is no specific reason to

make life into tapasya. Only for yogic pursuits should one undertake rigorous

disciplines. In which case bad habits either must be restrained anyway, or they

may just fall away if the tapasya takes a while to perform. How many people

fail at tapas because they predicate a result or sankalpa based on restraint

while the tapas takes a long time. It's better to predicate the sankalpa or

determination to do something upon natural will which occurs usually as a side

effect of successful practice. One can call this support of inner nature. One

also doesn't feel strain when restraint is developed from the inside rather than

from outside pressures or erroneus beliefs.
