Guest guest
Continuing the previous thread on depression. I would state that depression is the feeling of emptiness following emptiness such that one always feels empty and powerless to create anything more for oneself that will ever pan out, and will only continue to feel empty nomatter what comes. There are techniques in addition to rudraksha that can start mounting up gains that will be felt quickly and make reverberations into the future. I think the attitude one should have is to just do anything good, anything. And to that end here are a few good things to do: Mantras - any mantras are good; a person usually chants a mantra anyway. Some depressed people chant, "I'm just going to screw it up/fail" over and over, so instead choose from some mantras instead. You will accrue the benefit of those holy vibrations. In fact I would say that sometimes some of you depressed people were very holy in the past and have not done well in today's world because the holy means of making peace of mind have not been in your upbringing or personal domain. There are some mantras called combination bija mantras that can be repeated by everyone and they create waves of beneficience. They steadily incline the mind to higher vibrations and often one can find that they feel like the little train that could instead of the little ham in the truck. Here's a few - Lakshmi/Ganesha-abundance/removal of obstacle combo-shreem gum shreem. Trishakti for personal power combo-Im Shreem Kreem. Protection/removal of enemies combo-Hleem Doom Hleem. Bhairavi/Kali-Protection/strength/good fortune combo-Brahm Kreem Brahm. Also known as short Mahamrityunjaya kavacha or armour for all around protection and health is - Om Hroum Joom Sah. These I have gotten from ISSPLIST from a follower of Narayan Dutt founder of Mantra Tantra Magazine. They can be said by anyone at any time anywhere. I daresay that here is a simple thing the depressed can do always - just repeat some mantras either silently or aloud and over time big benefits will accrue. Some may find instant upliftment because you may well have already completed sadhanas for these deities during some past life. I also recommend any and all Ganesha/Ganapaty/Vinayaka mantras for removal of obstacles because they also have side benefits of bringing peace of mind. Excercise-I recommend Tai Chi to everyone on earth. It is a slow movement excercise where winning is never the question, where getting better is not the outcome where merely going through the motions is the whole point. Out of this seemingly pointless excercise one may well find the true point of life. At any rate, people of all temperament can benefit from this. People that move too fast will slow down and wont pull muscles, people with muscles will get limber and quieten their minds, fat people will move and not feel competition with others or even with themselves to excell at something difficult. Worship-choose any deity and just make some small gestures of worship. Give a flower, a pretty stone, a drop of water. One can take one's own religion and use a cross or David star. Or a Siva Linga or rudraksha or shank. Just know that God watches and when you make small motions of devotion whatever the motivation then God also makes some motions back at cha. Self-Control-this is the one noone wants to hear but by controlling desire even in small ways for moments one can eventually defeat the Goliath of what seem like out of controll impulses. If you smoke a pack a day make it 19 cigs instead. If you eat fourteen twinkies make it thirteen. If you can't stop masturbating the cut it back a little. Just do anything good. That is my philosophy, and it has worked for me. I used to be hopeless, now I have hope. If I can do it so can anyone. Keep the faith and don't listen to those who are negative-ever. If they wont shut up the just chant one of the mantras inside and you will be counteracting the negative all the while.
